This post is to recognize a great run over the past ten years by the team that I am partial to. I welcome others to post on here the numbers of other teams that have also had amazing stretches such as this one.

 

Let me take you inside the numbers of Mayfield Football since the 2009 season:

 

Record: 138 wins; 11 losses

 

Record at Home: 78 wins; 1 loss (their lone home loss was to 6A McCracken County in OT)

 

Playoff Record: 44 wins; 5 losses

 

Home Playoff Record: 32-0 (Current winning streak of 42 games at home in the playoffs. Last loss was in 2003)

 

Played in the State Championship game 9 of the last 10 years winning 5 State Championships.

 

I would say the one knock on the Mayfield program could be that even thought they have won 12 State Championships they have also lost that game 11 times now including this year.

Squirrel, probably the correct way to look at 12 Championshps and 11 RunnerUps is that your awesome program has finished in "top 2" programs 23 times. Pretty strong, babee!!!

For me schools that come to mind for this conversation in no particular order is Beechwood, Mayfield, Belfry, Johnson Central, Trinity, Highlands, Louisville Central. Every team on that list has multiple titles in the last decade, and have been pretty dominant.

Bowling Green has 5 state titles in the last decade I believe. Franklin-Simpson has 2 state titles and 2 state runner-up finishes since 2011.

Trinity has seven titles in the last ten years.

Beechwood has 3 titles and 1 runner-up in the last 10 years; 5 titles in the last 12 years.

 

Newport Catholic has 2 titles and 3 runner-ups in the last 10 years.

 

Belfry has 4 titles and 3 runner-ups in the last 10 years.

 

Central has 4 titles and 2 runner-ups in the last 10 years; 6 titles in the last 12 years.

 

Highlands has 5 titles and 1 runner-up in the last 10 years; 7 titles in the last 12 years.

What makes you include Johnson Central in this list and not include Franklin-Simpson? Johnson Central has been to 4 straight Championship games compared to FS’s 3 but FS lost to the same South Warren team that beat Johnson Central in 2015. FS just played them earlier in the playoffs. And FS has beaten JC 2 out of 3 times now.

Kind of spread out but Boyle has 3 titles the last 10 years.

Trinity has seven titles in the last ten years.

 

Yeah. That's about as dominate as one program can be.

Mayfield's record for the last decade is incredible. I don't know how it could've been any better.

Belfry & Central... IIRC, there has only been one title game in the last 10 years that did NOT feature one of them (2017 Boyle vs. Corbin). Is that right?
