Newport Central Catholic/Ashland Predictions
Ironton selects the officials themselves. Ashland's officials are assigned. I would think that the favorable whistle is a part of the home field/court advantage at every venue or at least the mystique thereof. I doubt the outcome of the game will be decided by a fortunate flag or lack of. I would guess that if the Ashland defense plays well then they will win.

Looks Like Fairview Didn't get the Point
If the resignation of the Superintendent is in the communication to the KHSAA, would this not be considered a parole violation? I dont know what was discussed or written down, only what is reported in the news. This whole thing is a little sketchy, hiring a former assistant with Huntington ties and the change of heart of the Super? I cant understand how the BOE can take the black eye they did in regards to TEST SCORES and football and the allegations of out of control spending and not hold him accountable. I say change the school colors to yellow.

UK Offers Ashland RB Quinton Baker
For whatever reason there will always be detractors to a kids opportunities. Fact is we all have weaknesses and to say he cant play there for this reason or that isnt fair. I say be thankful for the opportunity and if he can succeed on a bigger stage it will help those in our area who follow. Congrats Mr. Baker, remember this, you don't have to be your dad, but you have to be the best Quinton you possibly can.

Ashland 2014
I already knew his current plans were to stay with a family member and not just him, but his sister as well. Will this plan hold up until August, who knows? All I know is that I never had the opportunity before to know Cody and circumstances have given me that chance. As a result, I am a fan of Cody MePeek the person, not the football player.

Great Article in the Ashland paper...
I had the privilege of coaching one of those kids in Upward one year. We were desparately trying to get a scoring opportunity for one of our players and we instructed him to dribble drive then make a handoff on the block. After several failed attempts, he runs by the bench and says "Hey coach, this whole get it to (insert name) thing isnt working." He was 6 years old and he was right. I will never forget.

Raceland loses 5 players?
Raceland lost several baseball players a couple of years ago for behavior unbecoming. I hope this isnt a trend at the school and I hope other are kids take notice they themselves are responsible for their actions and any potential consequences. Too many kids today dont believe they are acountable to every other members of a team. If they are not they are not a team.

Ashland 2014
Here is a wrinkle for Ashland they also have Jake Long in the backfield why not put in a package where they direct snap to Baker and run read option with Long? Could be hard to defend.

Who is the favorite to replace McGlone at Russell!
The question is, What kind of return am I going to get on my investment? There is no way to know the answer for sure. So then we have to look at the risks involved, the risks that would keep me from getting the return I expect. If those risks were greater then I am comfortable with then the decision is to move on and mitigate those risks. If those risks are acceptable, then I stand pat. Obviously the decision was the risks at this point are more than Russell is comfortable with. If I have high risk and I have a good replacement right now then it is in the best interest of Russell Schools. Same reason Joe Montana became a Chief and Peyton Manning is a Bronco.

Ivan McGlone era over at Russell
I heard today that Coach Morris and Coach Smith officially retired from coaching and all other coaches were given pink slips. Coaches Evans and Caniff were asked to continue with the weight program only. The new coach will decide who is on his staff. Can anyone verify this?

Ivan McGlone era over at Russell
I believe that what happened with Coach McGlone is similar to what happened to Lee Evans at Boyd County. Where a few classes of middle school kids were very successful and a group of people came up with the idea that the reason the high school team wasnt winning was all due to coaching. The mutiny then happens and a good coach and a better teacher lose their job. The grass may look greener but what does it taste like? I have two sons that were opponents of Ivan McGlone teams. My youngest had the privilege of playing against him last year and then meeting Mr McGlone later. He walked away impressed with the way Coach McGlone knew the game and could replay certain downs with him. There are over 50 years difference in age between the two and that is where the similarities end. However this man had that gift of connecting with kids that transcended time. Congratulations Coach McGlone on earning your legendary status.

Awesome game for the players. I experienced this last year with my son and it was first class all the way. BTW Kentucky won so this year make it two in a row.
