  1. I dont think a full platoon is the best idea necessarily, but I do think you have to pick your spots to give those going both ways a breather. I dont think the Collins team that beat Highlands last year employed a full platoon system. I could be wrong.
  2. Do you take them off the defensive side of the ball if they play QB?
  3. I would say he is capable of both. Needs reps and confidence. Needs a little swagger. He wouldnt be the breakaway threat that Prince was but I believe his accuracy throwing the ball would be better.
  4. He has a high football IQ and the mindset to outwork the others. Needs to get stronger.
  5. I did mean next year and I know of the options available based on the kids that took snaps at practice this year. They all have some upside and some weaknesses. This is no different than every player on the team. If Ashland is to compete next year every returning player needs to find a way to get better.
  6. Who will play QB for Ashland last year?
  7. Good luck to Coach Sammons. I believe players win games but not without good foundational preparation.
  8. Thanks that clears it up
  9. If the line of scrimmage was the 10 and a fg was missed the other team would get to start at the 20?
  10. Then why did the missed fg in the second half get spotted at the line scrimmage?
  11. If you take away the two longest runs of the Highlands RB how many yards did he have?
  12. When Highlands missed the fg in the first half the line of scrimmage was the 31 and the ball was spotted on the 20. Why did Ashland coaches not question this?
  13. I do have a rules question from this game. Where should the ball be spotted after a missed fg?
  14. Last thought and I will move on, the next 6 months are important for mine. Highlands did not pick up a first down in the third quarter. Good luck to Highlands and Cov Cath next week in the regional final. I hope it is as good of a game as last night was and I hope both teams stay injury free.
  15. Maybe so,or just adds credibility to my what if's
  16. I dont know about the what if's and the game not being as close as it sounds. I do know that with about 6:30 left the score was 23 15 and the Ashland tight end ran a seam route and what if there was no procedure call and what if the 5 7 DB who was going to try and make a play on the ball couldnt out jump the 6 4 tight end and the pass is completed it would have been TD and the score would have been 23-21 and what if Ashland converted another 2 point conversion? The score would have been 23-23 with 6 minutes left and Ashland would have had momentum and the Bluebird butts would have been so puckered so tight that you could have stretched and hair across the crack and played a Charlie Daniles song. Maybe the game was as close as it sounded. Bottom line is Ashland's defense did hold and there was a procedure call and Highlands did win the game and to be honest they are the better team. It is pure arrogance to take anything away from Ashland in the way that they took what most would consider a disappointing season and stood toe to toe with a better team on the road and gave themselves a chance.
  17. Great effort by Ashland. All year long the defense was the goat. If you take away the the last td which was scored after the coaching staff took their last shot by going for it on 4th and 12 from the their own 19 with a little over 6 minutes left in the game and down one score, they only gave up 21 points. No TD passes. When was the last time Highlands did not throw a TD pass in a game? I hope that next years class keeps the mindset they had tonight and prepares to make another season memorable.
  18. You know me better than that.
  19. I dont know for sure, that would be a question only his parents could answer. I have some thoughts, but they are unvalidated and therefore I would not even begin to speculate.
  20. Baker went to elementary school in Ashland, went to middle school at Ashland for 1 semester and then to Boyd middle for a little over a year. I beleive he finished his 8th grade year at Ashland and has been there for his high school years.
  21. Dont tell anyone you agree with me, it will hurt your rep. As for the talent arguement, Flava Flav said dont believe the hype. However, I have a hard time understanding why we have very good hammers and try to use them as screwdrivers. I know our coaches went out of state a couple years ago to study an offense that doesnt seem to fit. If I may, I would suggest they call UPIKE and watch how they are using their skill players. Would require a little less travel for a suggestion. On the other side of the ball, a 5 man front would help free up the better tacklers. Just a suggestion.
  22. I am currently an Ashalnd fan and I will tell you this, if you think this is wrong and you dont want it to happen again, stop whining and do something about it. I appreciate the Raceland repsect and support but the bottom line is that this is the weakest JC team in the last 5 years and they kicked our tail. Rather than whine about the play calling at the end of games, we better be trying to figure out do we acutally have the talent that people think and if so why are we so bad? It is time to stop being the Rocky that is soft and gets his tail beat by Clubber Lang and start being the Rocky that goes to the ratty gym and outworks Clubber and then stands toe to toe and wins.
  23. Your post leads me to believe that you think his stock will drop, that he had better take the deal, I am of the opinion that what he can do physically isn't based on how many yards he had last week. His rep was set last summer. This would be the difference in what we are saying
  24. Baker runs laser 40's under 4.5 already. The stats he puts up in the regular season actually mean very little. One could very easily take what you are saying and think he gains 1200 yds per season and scores 15 tds without any help. How good is he? Do you really believe he was in jeopardy of losing the offer?
  25. If Rowan is out, then Boyd will go to Highlands.
