UK has 4 of top 5 players committed in state in 2016 and Drake Jackson is very high on UK.

This is probably a dumb question, but is Baker projected as a RB or are there other options for him? With the big prize still on the board I would think Baker would have waited to see what happened with Harris (not to mention UK's stable of young RB's).

Baker may be thinking that his stock will never be higher than it is right now. The Tomcats may win a playoff game and then travel to Highlands for another lopsided loss. Baker ended the regular season with a 20 yard on 10 carries performance against Johnson Central and his performance against Highlands will probably not be much better because the Tomcats do not have a strong line and their offense is anemic against teams with a decent defense.

 

Next season promises more of the same for Baker, assuming that he stays in Ashland, so committing to Kentucky now makes perfect sense to me. He has great speed and will shine against weak competition but he will not get the opportunity to show his full potential in high school.

Stoops is really locking down the state and this 2016 class is by all accounts shaping up to be amazing class now will Florida or Michigan come calling and will he he answer?

Baker runs laser 40's under 4.5 already. The stats he puts up in the regular season actually mean very little. One could very easily take what you are saying and think he gains 1200 yds per season and scores 15 tds without any help. How good is he? Do you really believe he was in jeopardy of losing the offer?

I never said that he was in danger of losing anything - just that nothing he is likely to do during the remainder of this season or next season will improve his stock over what it already is. How is that different than what you are saying?

With his dad being a former UK RB and living in Kentucky, I think Baker was going to go to UK no matter what and he just thought he might as well come out and say it. I don't think he has really pursued any other avenues because he knew once he got the UK offer he was done.

Your post leads me to believe that you think his stock will drop, that he had better take the deal, I am of the opinion that what he can do physically isn't based on how many yards he had last week. His rep was set last summer. This would be the difference in what we are saying

I think what Ram is saying is that his goal was to get an offer from UK and that's where he wanted to go but was going to see what other colleges said to him just to reassure his choice. But all along wanted to go to UK to begin with.

The days of school's having a feature back are gone. I would love to see a backfield in a few years with Boom Williams, Harris, Baker, and whoever else they get. It takes a stable these days...

Everything he gets her gets on his own, with defenses devoting probably 80% of their attention on him. I don't think he has scratched the surface of how good he can be. With a possible redshirt year and all the weight/nutrition training they do...Im sure his best days are ahead.

I think most recruiting hype these days comes from combine/camp performances in the summer.
