I dont think the issue to resolve is hair and water breaks. This issue is the stance on multi-sport athletes. I think there has to be some understanding of what a kid's goals are after high school and what is best for the student. If there are athletes with opportunities in other sports that can help the basketball team they dont play because they are criticised for not making basketball priority #1. Building or maintaining a program is different from building a resume'.

Good for the kids. I cant help but believe that Baker and Conner Messer from Raceland would have landed on a team. Both those kids are D1 athletes and more than deserving of some statewide attention.

If you feel bad about Northern KY kids, take a look at the kids from northeastern KY. There are none. The Baker kid from Ashland with more that one D1 offer and first team Courier Journal and not even HM on the AP. I have a feeling that our media rep once again dropped the ball with the ballot and several kids from Paintsville to Greenup to Rowan never had a chance to garner a vote.

My oldest son was a participant in this game and loved the experience.

I realize that Thornton moved and he was a big part of this group, but the junior class had a lot of potential in middle school. The kids that are no longer playing lost interest at various stages beginning in the 7th grade.

I have watched the coach Biggs years at Ashland and to me, it was always about him. I remember watching a district tournament game in which I believe Delaney hit a game winner from the elbow and Biggs reaction and his demonstration to the crowd left me feeling this way to the point that I mentioned it to my wife. I dont think he ever connected with the Ashland kids. He made his living through free agency.

Took the opportunity to watch this one. What I noticed was a physically weak team which caused them trouble in traffic and in the paint. The thing that stood out to me the most was the lack of defensive fundamentals. They repeatedly lost #3 from HC and allowed him open looks when he was the only one from HC that looked comfortable shooting the 3 and they were consistently out of position early which led to several easy interior passes for layups. Offensively, they struggled some with the press and missed a lot of open looks. If Miller plays I believe they would have won this game. Right now they are searching for answers. I would guess they have a chance against East becuase the style of play does not lead to a lot of points scored.

No harm to me buddy. No pun intended for the Buddy reference either. Ashland has only 7 winnable games at this point Russell (2) Rose Hill (2) Fairview (2) and West Carter. I dont know anything about Holy Cross, Ironton, or Spring valley. If Biggs wins 10 games with the cards he has to play with, he should be coach of the year.

What doe Covington Holy Cross have?

I think the dip is due to a lack of foresight on the part of the coaches. This year at Ashland it will be a turtle race to see if the football team with 6 wins will out do the basketball team and the baseball team.

Not sure about Long but Baker has run sub 4.5 laser times at combines.

I feel like with the effort given at Highlands and the junior class being the better of the two upper classman groups that next year will be a good one. There are answers to the questions for positions and I think the coaching staff will find them.

Athletes? It is going to be a long year for Ashland. They need to improve or a 3 seed and no trip to the region is possible.
