I am disappointed in the way the QB position has been handled. Ashland's defense will have to play well in this game because the offense will have no continuity due to the lack of reps and familiarity especially early.

So we all agree that should Ashland be up two scores Friday and choose to throw it in the endzone with under a minute to play its ok.

West kicked an onside kick because they were behind and we're trying to win. Raceland threw the pass with the game in hand. They take a knee it's over. Based on your logic if Raceland takes a knee On first down and west uses their last time out. Then Raceland should try to score in second down because West was still trying to play. I realize west wasn't in the lead but had the roles been reversed and they tried to throw it in the endzone Raceland fans would have been fit to be tied. If you disagree you are not being honest.

No it was in a run however they attempted a pass and then a run when they could have simply taken a knee.

Hiw much better than west will Ashland be on defense? How many more plays than 7 will it take to offset the difference? Remember you only ran 7 so the film improvements can onot be made on 7. Would it be possible that the limited playbook had anything to do with the fact you were starting a new QB? If yes will this shorten Ashlands playbook? Lot of different ways to look at things by the armchair community. Wonder how many different plays West ran? I have no clue. While I believe B Brown will run away from a lot of people this year, I would take Baker and K Brown over the West back field. If the line play of Ashland can at least equal that of West Ashland will move the football and hit a few dingers. I am disappointed that Ashland hasn't named a starter and put all the talk that will follow behind them. It will be a distraction this week. If the race for QB is so close they can't name one then what are they worried about it will make no difference. If who they choose plays well then they are right and if they play poorly then criticism Part of being a coach.

Does this mean that the fact Ashland has an extra game film to prepare for Raceland and two weeks to work on specifics is of no sognificance?

I thought West skill guys caused some problems for Raceland when they had some space. That being said I believe Ashlands skill guys are better than West's if they can find some space there will be more than two long td's. West's secondary completely blew several coverages allowing long pass plays. I believe the Ashland secondary is a little better and if they don't lose contain it will take away a key success that Raceland had against West. Outside of the Kouns kid from West Ashland is better at lb which should slow down the Raceland run game. I don't expect this game to be a high scoring affair Ashland needs to get off the field on third down when on D and mix up the play calling on O a little. Should be a good game probably a two score margin in favor of Ashland. Close enough that turnovers and injuries could swing the outcome.

They will have to develop kids to fill spots. This group of seniors were not heavily regarded as freshman and have developed into good players. Hoping that trend continues.

Whoever the QB is at Ashland this year has no experience. Level playing field there. What if the best QB at Ashland is also their best LB and best TE? Maybe the coaches there think that what's best for the team is to not play him at QB. The same choice Joe would have to make to start an inexperienced QB. But wait Paintsville has an experienced QB. Maybe both sets of coaches are making the right decision based on experience.

I know Kash and Rail personally and I agree he is an athlete but even you must admit with Ohelps in the backfield he should have the ball in his hands.

There is a thread in baseball for the hire haters. He didn't start at Paintsville because they have a returning starter that is going to UK. He would have started there next year had he stayed. There is no reason to knock the kid if he is competing. He wouldnt be expected to win games at Ashland just not lose them.

I don't believe that a starter has been named at this point. The claim, while it may end up being true, is right now unsubstantiated.

Can't base season on a scrimmage score because coaches are looking for different things. However if Weat can play a little defense they will upset some folks.

If I apply for the middle school job I will stand in my experience and record. I am sure there are Paintsville people that will Back me up.

Fact of the matter is, it will take Lemaster 2-3 years to bring the program back to contention. If the supporters expect him to contend year 1 they are setting him up for failure. He will be pitching starved this year and will have to depend on kids being crafty and good defense to get through. The need to develop arms is huge.
