After this weekend attention will turn to All-xxxxxx teams.

 

Defense seems like a crap shoot on some of these. Especially the broadest list that claims to cover the state.

 

Statistics seem to be ignored - either by the coaches or writers or both. Some fine defense players get over looked when they shouldn't. One measure is tackles. Another is turnovers (maybe another thread).

 

I am sure there are more. This was some scouting around mostly among the 4A, 5A and 6A teams.

 

I hope that coaches and writers give all of these players deserving consideration. All should be in the C-J All-State list in some manner.

Wouldn't a lot of this be determined by how each school keeps a tally of these statistics? I know of some places that count every pile jumper with an assist and others give credit to the guy that made the intial contact and the second man in.

And some do not post or track at all. It seems about 80% do record tackles.

 

It can be subjective, especially assists. I would not use the detailed statistics to split hairs on a list that is for sure. But if you have over 75 solos and over hundred total - that should get recognition.

Trey Hicks at Scott has to be over 100 for the season. He has a real knack at finding the ball

Absolutely, that is a whale of a season and effort by an individual any way you look at it.

Ryan Woolf - Ryle 88 solo, 52 assist, 140 total.

Jefferson Patrick from williamsburg over 100 this season has over 500 in his 4 yrs at williamsburg who played his final hs game before the college level today
