I think Ashland will struggle with Cox pulling the ball and keeping it.

Last week Ashland kick an extra point with only 10 on the field. The last punt, only ten on the field. Interesting on that one, while Russell was debating the penalty a kid ran off. They almost punted again with only 9.

Maybe I wasnt clear on th social media thing. I wasnt saying he needs to respond. I was saying that he should control the people that either work for him or live with him when it comes to their antics on social media. Honestly he shouldnt have to do this, they should have enough respect for him to discipline themselves.

Does everyone realize Russell has hired a football coach, a baseball coach, and a softball coach? They are a quality academic school already and with the new hires it would be hard to argue that they dont want to be King of the Hill.

Opportunities to get better?

If by "YOU" you are referring to me, please note I have not turned on anyone. It the truth be known I may be the one guy that has more reason than anyone to not be a fan. Nevertheless, I am. I am also a realist and am not blinded by the tint of my glasses. This team has weaknesses and they are many, but as I said they are also opportunities to to overcome. I will leave you with a quote from a football movie, Julius Campbell looked at Gary Bertere and said "attitude reflect leadership, captian" If the attitude of the players gets bad who are they reflecting? I hope those kids join arms and take an us against the world attitude. Ultimately this is their team and we are priviliged to be on the sidelines.

I think Coach Love knows football. Right now he has problems that he should control and he isnt. There are people posting on social media that he should handle, there are people around the players on the sideline that should be in the stands, there are decisions that he isnt making or when he has input, he is getting over run, and he is losing his players confidence. I watched the Russell head coach take the play card away from a coach after the second of two straight delay of game penalties. To him that was not acceptable. Would that have happened on Ashland's sideline? Experience tells me that kids will play and fight for a guy they trust, that has their back. I dont see that out of Ashland players. I know that if two plays are different Ashland is 3-0. In reality they are just as close to 0-3. If 3-0 a lot of the issues would be masked. They are not 3-0 and the weaknesses have surfaced. Every threat presents an opportunity. It will be interesting to see if the opportinity is capitalized on.

This isnt JFL, teams dont win with a couple of players. If they want to not be embarrassed Friday and eventually challenge JC for the district they better figure out who they can depend on and quickly.

I have sat and listened and thought a lot, when you mow for 3 hours you think a lot. I will preface what I say with the fact that I am not a football coach, however I have coached other sports and at the high school level. I have watched the last 14 Ashland games. One game is not enough to hang a coach. However it should be noted that Ashland was 2 td's better than GW. There are problems that are not being addressed. Eminem said "here's my ten cents my two cents are free" Ashland has some big play guys. The more plays they make the better the team plays, of course. Do you realize that improvement in the supporting cast makes the team better as well. It appears that everybody from the coaches down expect a couple guys to make every play. This isnt JFL, doesnt work that way. Coach up the supporting cast. Define the pecking order on sideline. Too much confusion. Take charge. Have some balls, to say this is what we are going to do and it will work. Why would I want to follow a guy into battle that is going to second guess his decision before he even makes it? The kids are looking for that guy. Once you figure out the details, learn how to sell it. Extra points, is there a rule that says the snap has to be a certain distance? I have watched Gullett and he is pretty accurate why not lengthen the snap about 5 ft? Why beat up Prince about throwing the football? There are throws that he makes well. Figure out what those are and eliminate the routes he cant throw or take a look at his feet, it seems that he can throw vertical routes ok but he cant throw the outs well at all. Maybe he isnt getting his feet where they work best for him. He is not Elway, dont expect it. Another thing, he cant make throws that are either quick or require some velocity , he doesnt have that no accuracy on these throws. He is limited but not terrible, stop putting him in a position to fail Quit trying to post up Spud Webb. Just a few things in my head, you would have to pay for the rest. One game does not make a season, use this game to get better for a district championship road game in a couple of months. One last thought, if you have a player that speaks English as a second language, make sure he understands what you want done. If he doesnt understand, its not his fault, it is the on the one delivering the message.

This is the fourth year in a row that Ashland and GW have played. GW holds 2-1 advantage so far with each road team winning. From what I hear in the West Virginia cirlces, they may be down a little this year. However they will be a good team and will be well coached and at home. If Ashland wants to take a step forward with their program they must win these type road games.

Do not know about representation. I am not sure that anyone can contact 2016 grads until 9/1. You are correct about Long receiving interest from them as well as a couple other players on that team.

I guess I am slow. I think it was his ultimate desire. No motivation to qb's. Truth. No humor. Wanted team to get better. If you are saying that this is the same as bulletin board stuff, isnt that motivation? Anyway I hope both teams leave the game healthy and that both teams work hard to chase their post season goals.

Leon looked at each team as an opponent, not 1A, 2A, 3A whatever. He played em one game at a time. I don't think he was trying to motivate anybody or discredit anybody. I think he was serious. I consider my son fortunate to have played for Leon.

I dont understand hair styles, heck I have more hair on my back than I do my head. I dont understand earning the right to be the smoocher or the smoochee or incentive of either. I believe that Ashland is better this year than last and I believe Raceland was better last year than this. I hope all stay injury free. If Ashland doesnt put it on the ground, they will win.

Does coif mean frosted? I am not familiar with that word.

Ashland's secondary will be 6'1" Long, 6' 3" Gilliam, 5'11" Bradley, and you will see Baker at times. The secondary is tall and athletic. They should matchup ok. I think the underneath receivers run the risk of getting whacked by OBryan. What does all that mean? Raceland will complete passes for sure. I think that number will be under 50% and I think they will turn it over at least once in the passing game. I dont think they will be able to catch a short pass and consistently get a lot of yards after. They will give Ashland some problems with their diversity early and if they are able to compete early who knows. If Ashland happens to get ahead early, who knows.

I hope it stays grass.

A couple years ago Johnson Central had a kicker that they heralded but a soccer conflict was gonna cause a problem with his attendance at the Ashland game. Someone helped by flying him from the soccer game to the football game. I remember the ovation he received when he arrived and ran down the sideline.
