Ashland plays GW on the road this week. I do not know anything about GW this season, as West Virginia's season has not started yet and I have not seen any WV previews.

I do know that even though they have not been in existence a long time, they have been one of the top schools in WV's large school division from day one. I believe that Ashland holds a 1-1 record against them.

So what do you think? Even though I know nothing about them I think Ashland wins by 13. Raceland exposed Ashkands pass defense on Friday, but I expect GW to be more run oriented. That said, I think Ashlands running game will be too much for them.

I am at a disadvantage in that I don't what to expect from JW this year. Yes, traditionally, they are normally a strong program, and probably will be this year. I like Ashland's chances, with the quick strike capability.

WV's football season started Friday. GW was drum rolled by South Charleston, that has a record of 18-13 over the past three seasons, 56-14. Ashland BIG.

This is the fourth year in a row that Ashland and GW have played. GW holds 2-1 advantage so far with each road team winning. From what I hear in the West Virginia cirlces, they may be down a little this year. However they will be a good team and will be well coached and at home. If Ashland wants to take a step forward with their program they must win these type road games.

I had no idea that this was the fourth year these two teams have played. It appears Ashland has found a replacement for Spring Valley then.

Your right, I knew West Virginia started a week later than KY, but I neglected to remember that Ashlands game last week, since it was cancelled.

South Charleston has had some great teams in the past. But if they won that big GW may in fact be in a down year. I still don't think Ashland wins big though. I'll stick with a couple of td's.

Baker and Long each get a 100 yards in a decent victor over GDub

I may be completely wrong. I spent some time away from this area. I know Ashland had a series with them in basketball, was told that they played in football those years too. Looking at past schedules though I don't see it. I may be losing my mind. The only thing I have going for me in that respect is I was in Louisiana for that period of time, which is one state that I will never go back to.

He may have been thinking of Waverly Ohio. Russell used to play Spring Valley, but I don't think Ashland ever did.

Correct, we used to scrimmage Spring Valley and Cabell Midland every year when McGlone was coach.
