Boyle wins 70-63. They're 1,2,3 punch with Tyler, Bell and Elkins is absolutely lethal right now. They are playing at a very high level and Boyle has the right amount of role players to make a run in this tournament. Watch out.

It truly will. If someone forced me to pick a favorite in the 45th next year, I would pick Danville. All 4 will be able to win it, which hasn't been the case in a long time. Lincoln seems like they will be down, but how many times have we thought that? They will be fine. Boyle will be just fine with Robbins and Elkins returning, and Garrard will (hopefully) be a contender to win the district. Should be fun!

If Garrard County were to have a true point guard move in, they would be a contender for top 3 or 4 in the region. Crutchfield and McCollum carry that team, but you have to have more in this region. They are just a couple players away from being REALLY good.

Remember him when he was younger, and have seen him play this year...and yes, sneaky athletic. One of those kids that you go up to block and he punches a two hand slam in your face.

Yes, Perrin could not shoot the ball 1/10 of the way Tyler does, but Perrin was an out of the world leaper. Two great players.

Saw that, too. I love the passion the 45th district in general has. Each team hates each other on the court, and each fan base hates the others during the game...but when we see a kids career end it's heartbreaking and everyone gets brought back down to earth to see that these kids are hurt. Loved the compassion from both teams, just a overall well representation of the 45th district, and 12th region. I think everyone can cheer for the Rebels in Rupp. Always good seeing a 45th district team in Rupp! Go Rebs!

I didn't hear them say anything about MVP. I completely forgot about them naming someone MVP in the first place, but I didn't hear anything about it...like you said they just named him last.

I have coached against him, and trust me it is no fun sitting on the bench watching him dissect your defense and then talk trash about it! But, that's how that kid has to play. He has a tremendous heart, and just wants to win. That is truly hard to find in todays world of high school kids, so that's why I love the kid. Conway is the same way. True warriors. I just love seeing all of the sportsmanship that went on last night. On the court, you want to kill each other. Off the court, they're friends and fellow competitors. I just hate seeing parents throwing shots at kids on the floor. I have a formula for not yelling at players/coaches/refs...ready...? Grab $3 out of your wallet and go grab a nice warm popcorn and a mountain dew. :popcorn:

I hope that by seeing players like Timmy Taylor and Conway crying their eyes out after the game, that parent from opposing teams realize that these are just kids. They want to win and will do anything to do so. I've heard plenty of fans from schools that I won't mention, yelling at Taylor as if he was an adult. Sad really. Sometimes us adults get so intertwined with the game that we feel like we're in the game. Both teams have GREAT kids, and that is why I was so happy to see that one of the two were going to Rupp. Represent the 45th BoCo!

That's irrelevant, there is no stat for how many shots he alters. The kid played like a man last night and I'm glad to see it. Not being a fan of Boyle or Lincoln helps me give an un-biased opinion, but man I love watching that kid when he plays like he did last night. He could have had 3 blocks, he could have had 5, but his presence in the paint creates way more of a problem for the other team then just "a" blocked shot would or ever could. Going to be a great one tonight.

Bell was a true leader last night. Showed grit and wanted the ball in the last few minutes because he wanted to be the one knocking down the free throws. Of course Hagen Tyler played well like always, but Bell really stood out to me. I have been critical of him some this year, but he showed how to lead a team last night. That's probably collectively the hardest I have seen Boyle play all year. They had the look in their eyes, that Wayne quite frankly didn't. Great bluegrass basketball to watch that's for sure!

I honestly think Mercer is the "Cinderella" of this tournament if you will, but not by much. Not meaning that they are a big underdog in every game, just don't think many people had them beating Southwestern. Lincoln at home is tough for anybody to play against, as we have seen for many years...but I think Mercer wins this game with a Will Hager layup before time expires. Either Mercer wins by 2, or Lincoln wins by 16. Heck, what do I know? :popcorn:

It's very obvious that Boyle must defend the 3 point line if they want to win this game. I also think Wayne must figure out how to stop Hagen Tyler from getting into his groove. I do know one thing, none of us on here can accurately predict how this one will go. Two very good teams with great shooters, and great basketball I.Q's. I probably won't get there till right around tip off...so someone save me a seat???

I'm a fan of neither team, but you can't be serious by that statement? I mean I understand your opinion, but you saying you would take him 8 days a week makes me think you would take Bell over Taylor and it's not even close? Look I know Boyle has had problems with Taylor in the past for his on court antics, but IMO Taylor is the pest PG in the state. If Bell could distribute 90% of his touches and shoot 10% of his touches then I think we would have an argument. He's score first, when Taylor is score last. Once again just my opinion, but you saying that made me wonder if you really thought Bell was that much better then Taylor. Just not the case.

There's a lot more that goes into a "rivalry" then a teams record against each other. I can say from my own personal experience, that this rivalry was much present when I was in school back from 05-09. Every year we circled Lincoln in basketball, because for one we hated them, and two it was Lincoln County and they were always winning the Region. Needless to say that "rivalry" fueled us in beating them by 19 our senior year. I don't think we had beaten them before that in at least 2000 years. To us "has beens", we can speculate it being a rivalry based on previous records head to head, but to those kids in both schools...this game is a big deal. Now I'm going back to eating my Cheese Nips. Oh and by the way...GC wins this one 28-20.

Whomever it may be, I hope that the coach realizes what a great district and region this is to coach in, and will stay. I think who they got will be a good hire. Since Mullins has stepped in as superintendent, GC all around school system has drastically improved, and I think this hire will only help that. That is my take.

I can promise you the boys coach is not Brian Britt, Mercer's coach from last year. Keep guessing...??

They Boys and Girls teams have both found their coaches, and will be announced at The Grand Theatre on Monday at 4:00. I know who the boys coach will be but not sure about the girls. See everybody Monday!

I'm now hearing some rumbling around that former Mercer Co head coach Brian Britt is a likely candidate. Anybody know anything about that?

I disagree, they need to find someone with a deep pedigree of head coaching experience. Bryant doesn't have that.

Where is he from? Details on him?

Any news on potential hires? I'm hearing it is down to 4 coaches, all with previous head coaching experience.
