Lexington Catholic defeated Boyle County 65-47 earlier in the season, will this be the same case this time around or will Boyle County get revenge on the Knights?

Well I can guarantee that it will not be like the first meeting. We wont be playing 3 games before playing Lex Cath. Let alone 3 teams who either made the sweet 16 or lost in Regional Finals.

Not to mention a very sick Hagen Tyler, pretty sure Catholic will see a very different team.

One of the few first round games that I'm really looking forward to.

 

Boyle County can't overlook Jarod Griffin. Kid brought it in the region and I've underrated him all year. Baller. Can drop 13 against tough man from Station, even though Johnson only had 12 and the book on defending him is kind of getting out (look at some of his late scoring totals). I thought Griffin really carried Catholic through the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the regional final against Station, and he's had some big games. Focus too heavily on Johnson and you will risk him killing you. I know 13 doesn't sound like a ton, but given the percentage of the team's offense that came from him and what it came against, you'll take that number. Boyle will either need Bell, who'll have to stay out of foul trouble, or one hell of a defender to slow down Talbott and his penetration as well.

 

Lexington Catholic has to find a way to stop Elkins inside. Between Bell's penetration and what he can do when he gets where he wants to go, as well as the fact that you have to play it straight up because of what they can do with Hagen Tyler, there'll be plenty of opportunities for Elkins against a Catholic D that is a bit vulnerable inside as is. If Elkins has a big game, then it's probably going to be a positive thing for Boyle County because it's one place that you just give them a clear advantage going in (unless maybe Whitman or Boothe just plays out of his mind and like a player that I haven't really seen). Will be interesting to see if and how Salsman gives any help to whoever has to go against Elkins because I'm not sure that Catholic has any one kid that you can just leave on an island one-on-one.

Boyle County in a close one. Haven't seen either team but what I read in this thread, Boyle Co wasn't at full strength with Hagen Tyler sick.

Boyle County will take this one. They are clicking on all cylinders right now! Why anyone is basing this game from another game that happened in December, is beyond me.

Let's throw the first meeting out the door. No way you can expect a team to have to play 3 straight nights then have to play Catholic. It just wasn't fair for Boyle County. Plus, Hagen Tyler was sick and that is worth the 18 points Boyle County lost by without a doublt.

 

This go around with a healthy Tyler, Boyle County should win this by 6-8 points. Look for Tyler to go for 30+. He wil be the best player on the floor and Catholic will have no answer.

I'm not so sure Boyle will win. I admit i'm an 11th region guy, but I have a ton of respect for Boyle, Lincoln, Wayne..etc. that being said, Lex Cath played a much much tougher schedule the last month than Boyle. Lex Cath is more battle tested IMO and knows how to win games when they get ahead. If boyle falls behind early they could be in trouble. Should be an outstanding game. Ill say LC wins in overtime by 4.

This will be the best game to watch Thursday. I will be pulling for Boyle County and I look forward to seeing Tyler and Bell in action. The best time of the year is only a few days away, Sweet 16 and NCAA!

Boyle wins 70-63. They're 1,2,3 punch with Tyler, Bell and Elkins is absolutely lethal right now. They are playing at a very high level and Boyle has the right amount of role players to make a run in this tournament. Watch out.
