Let's have a single class, just like Basketball and Baseball, then let everyone make the playoffs, and let the season go on until late March when there will be a Kentucky High School Athletic Association Super Bowl. Then one team will be able to say they are the greatest and then everyone else has to bow down and pay homage to them, BUT they get a medal for participating.

Very difficult situation if this is the case. I'm sure the team and community will rally around for Coach Mueller, and he will be with the team in spirit. Prayers to the Coach and his family, best wishes to the team.

The beauty of a "mythological" championship.... Cooper can claim anything they want if they win 5A. And everyone can argue until hell freezes over, and no one can prove them wrong, Because Highlands and Cooper won't be playing THIS SEASON. Best wishes to all the NKY teams, bring home 3 titles!

I will be rooting for 3 for 3 out of NKY. Obviously I like the birds to win. Breds are playing very well and look good also. I have assumed that BG would run away with 5A from everything I have heard all year, but I like what Cooper has done and with the very tight game BG had this week, I would have to think that Cooper has a legit opportunity.

QB, RB, a couple of WR's & TE on offense. 2 DL, 2 LB & a couple DB's. O-line should be beefier, really replacing G's, but underclassmen got plenty of time there this year. D-line will be fine, lots of underclassmen rotated in this year, lose some size with Hemmer. Burchell is back to anchor LB's, with some decent underclassmen coming up, same for DB's. Bir is the major loss, I don't see a real drop-off anywhere else, quite possibly some upgrades depending on the off season work put in.

Cooper baseball is headed in the right direction. Talent, hard work, playing the game the right way. How that shows in wins and losses is anybody's guess, but when you prepare the right way, success usually follows. Good Luck Jags & Coach Beiger.

While I am not about to start making predictions about next year, I will say that CCH is in very good shape athletically for the next several years. Solid soph class, frosh look good & the feeder schools all have nice players. No one is a "super-star" that is going to come in and start all 4 years, but nice players. Lets see how they mature, the work level they put in and how they "buy in" to everything that they should be doing. They will compete. Highlands has a few more weeks in the 2012 season. Best wishes. 2013 has already started for the Colonels. I hope they use the extra time wisely.

I predict that I have to work until 6:30 and I will have to stand in the end zone to watch the game.... Anyone willing to save me a seat????? Cheering for the Colonels. Glad I am not a betting man. I believe Cov-Cath has the talent, but until it happens on the field the Birds have to be the favorites in this one.

They should play Friday night at PBS. That would help the fundraiser as well.... Man, why do I have to think of these things:dancingpa

I have a good friend coaching at a private school near Buffalo, N.Y. They have to travel to fill out their schedule because none of the local schools will play them. They schedule St. Ignatius, St. Ed's in Ohio every year, they have been to Cincy for games at St. X, and travel to Erie, Pa, Rochester, Syracuse & Long Island, NY to get games other than required league games. It seems this is what Trinity has had to do the last few years & Highlands is in the same boat. I'm sure that Pendleton, Harrison, & Holmes would not have them scheduled if they were not required for district play. At this point in time, and for the past 10 + years, the Highlands program is that much better than the other NKY programs. Until a program proves it is capable of competing, they have nothing to gain by scheduling Highlands, and honestly, Highlands has nothing to gain by scheduling a team that can't push them.

Very good game. With the young Colonels not playing a real game the past few weeks, I was a little worried they would be flat. Scott County has some very nice young athletes and the coaching staff was outstanding. It would have been nice to get the win, but a well played by both teams.

Very sloppy, ugly game all the way around. For 2 offensive powerhouses, not much scoring!! It had to be fun playing out there! With all the turf fields, it was nice to see some dirty uniforms. Very nice W for Conner, gives Cov Cath some things to work on....

Goose definitely could have played at a higher level, but he made a great choice. He is down about 15 lbs from his playing weight at Dixie, but the Saints aren't asking him to be on the field for every play, and play LB on defense. I spoke with his Dad last week & Goose (and family) are happy with staying close to home.

Based on student population, Brossart needs to be back in 1A, where they should be after the next re-alignment. That will at least allow them to compete in the district a little better (aside from Beechwood). The program has a tremendous amount of potential, it needs to be harnessed and nurtured..... Brossart lost the best Strength & Conditioning coach in NKY a couple of years ago when he left to open a private business....:sssh: They haven't been the same since. Great job at Walton, I hope they can make a playoff run into December!!

I'm sure that there will be much better details soon, but Cov Cath controlled the game & it was never really close, but Holmes showed explosiveness and sheer athleticism. I wish I had name & numbers, but a short flair pass with about a 90 yard run after the catch for a score for the Bulldogs. A botched punt attempt for the Bulldogs ended with the punter running around 90 yards (yes again) for a TD. A defensive TD for Holmes also. CCH had their 2nd's in when they ran a read option. From my view, the QB thought he gave the ball to the RB and the RB thought the QB kept the ball, as neither came back to the ball. Meanwhile, the ball dropped straight down to the turf, not bouncing around. An alert Holmes defender picked it up and ran 40ish yards for a score. Not pretty, but entertaining.

Salute to Harrison County's team. They played hard. I hope those that have remained will keep their heads up and work effort high. Best wishes for the future. Cov Cath needs to do some fine tuning to be ready for the playoffs. Stability on special teams will be crucial. Ball security in the return game needs to get better. Lots of crazy things can happen, but as of today there is one team that stands between the Colonels and a shot at the 4A state title, and we all know who that team is....
