Heartbreaing news to hear. I hope he finds the strength to move on for the 6 year old and, hopefully, the twins. You just don't hear this type of tragedy often with our medical expertise.

Don't know one thing, but I think Paintsville may be making a trip to Carlisle soon during the regular season. Probably a nice draw for the boys in Carlisle.

To me it is simple: Do the players still remember and live life lessons the coach taught? 20 years later, do they still remember the good times they had, the memories still are vivid in their mind, and when they talk about the coach it is almost with reverence? Coaching is teaching and molding people to be positive influences in an array of arenas. There have been great coaches that never won a championship and not so great coaches that won several.

Rowan Co. will not beat Scott and Greenup Co. isn't a slam dunk.

I am not sure KHSAA would allow them to play for their own championship. Unfortunately, there will never be parity in high school sports.

From the KHSAA website. These schools will not compete in any district, therefore, will not be in playoffs this year or next. Not Placed in Alignment – Clinton County, Eminence, Grant County, Jenkins

Some already do. I believe Grant County is one of those schools this year. I may be mistaken, but I think they would be in the 5A CCH, Highlands, Dixie Heights district if they chose to play.

If high school basketball or sports are about getting to the next level of play, then why have them and we are headed in the wrong direction? High school sports SHOULD be about community and teamwork. I don't see it any different than belonging to the FFA, ROTC, etc. The biggest difference in some communities is the basketball game is the only game in town that night if you want to get out and do something pretty close to home. Some really really gifted players will play att teh next level and that is great, but I hope that is not what high school sports is about. We have debated this several times on here. Academics provides teh most opportunities for school's and it isn't even close to what sports provides in opportunities. My guess though this was trying to get a debate going between AAU and high school.

Looks like Calvary is ready to take the next step. Scheduling tougher teams will be that next step. Good season for them. They did play and beat some bvery good teams in NCC, Brossart, Conner. They also played St Henry. They need a full schedule of these type of games

The end zone pylons are actually set in line with the inbounds marks (hash lines) to assist the officials as a point of reference. With the advent of turf fields, along with more grass fields being better lined, they are not as a critical tool as they once were. The official was correct in setting them off the end line. By rule, they are out of bounds. In reality, they should be set about 6 feet behind the end zone. We set them back to keep a punter who is backed up in his own end zone to keep from inadvertently touching one for a cheap safety, or a receiver dragging along the back of the end zone to keep from touching it. If they are set on the end line and the receiver touches one during the down, he becomes ineligible by virtue of being out of bounds during the down. From Ruleman on Fearless Friday website.
