Campbell came ready to play. I thought the momentum would turn when Smallwood got a yellow card early in the first half, but Calvary was unable to capitalize. Congrats Camels.

Little surprised but not surprised. Early in the season I thought Calvary had a chance to make some noise in the 10th region, thought they looked dangerous in August. Explains why I'm a little surprised. Not surprised due to the schedule Calvary played, IMO this is a big reason teams such as this have a tendency to get knocked out early in the post season.

Looks like Calvary is ready to take the next step. Scheduling tougher teams will be that next step. Good season for them. They did play and beat some bvery good teams in NCC, Brossart, Conner. They also played St Henry. They need a full schedule of these type of games

Not sure how many games Calvary played on turf but the speed early seemed to be a problem.

Looking at their schedule, not many were on turf. I wonder if also playing home matches on the small field does them no favors.

With very small schools a lot of time they are not really ready for the next step but rather have caught lightning in a bottle. Hard to make aggressive schedules not knowing how many athletes will be strolling the hallways over the next few years. Seems like they have had a nice little run and I would like to see them establish themselves in a few sports.

They got a strong class coming back and next year will give them a strong chance to build on this year. Congrats camels you guys played well- good luck post season.

A loss to St. Henry in the 9th/10th "A" Playoff game, and Brossart in the 37th District Tournament game.

 

The tie was 3-3 to Covington Holy Cross.

 

A similar scenario played out last year when they were 12-4-4, having defeated Brossart early in the season, then losing to the Mustangs in the "A" tournament, and again in the 37th District Tournament.

 

Just a casual observation that the Cougars tend to play their best soccer early in the year.

If I'm a Calvary supporter I'm asking myself why this is. If this is a reoccurring issue it's hard to blame bad luck for being knocked out early. In any one season, injuries can play a part. If the cause is not solely due to impact players going down then what is the reason? Strength of schedule, i.e. playing a soft schedule, priorities, W-L-T record/scoring a lot of goals Vs trying to win your region or is it something else?

Current Maher SOS has Brossart 223, Campbell Co 260, Calvary 720, quite a large difference. No question Brossart has one of the top coaches in NKY, he has proven it at St Henry and now with Brossart. It makes a difference, especially this time of year. I've heard it is not easy for schools such as Calvary to get stronger teams on their schedule but, Brossart, NCC, HC, Beechwood and Villa, all similar NKY teams played stronger schedules. It would appear Calvary needs to do a much better job preparing for the post season if they want to get over this hump.
