Sweet 16 Enrollments
You keep forgetting CovCath Won the BOYS state title and they have as many BOYS as at least half the schools in the tourney. They are NOT a small school relative to how many Boys they have.

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
I suppose track is "totally different" also.

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
Obviously spoken by a fan of a big school who can't stand to see a small school celebrate winning a tournament. If you ever attended an ALL A Tourney and see the kids from the small schools play you might change your mind. In the meantime if you don't like it don't belittle it, just ignore it. By the way, is all the hype about the A & AA football champs just the best of the worst?

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
You know CovCath's 500+ equates to any co-ed school's 1000+ because it is all boys. That's a big difference.

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
"Just a tad larger"? Sounds like you are involved in government borrowing saying we will go in debt "just a tad more".

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
Just wondering, do you attend any of the football playoffs, or is that just a colossal waste of time also.

Sweet 16 Enrollments
It's a big school tournament, that's my only point. People should stop romantisizing about "lil old" so and so really having a chance. Well maybe every 25 years or so, big deal.

4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
If that is the case why doesn't Indiana change back to one class?
-
4A, 5A, 6A, 6A
They"re not "getting away" with anything. A group of dedicated men not connected to the KHSAA at all put on the tourney for the smallest 120 (40%) of the schools in the state. If someone wants to have a tourney for the schools larger than this but smaller than the REALLY big schools have at it.

James Bolden or Dickie Beal???
Their games aren't similiar at all. Beal was a true point guard who ran the offense, distributed the ball, and scored when the situation called for it. Bolden looks to score all the time and only passes when he doesn't have a shot. Not a point guard at all. Would take Beal, easily.

Sweet 16 Enrollments
Gee, doesn't look like there are many "small" schools. In fact NONE that would qualify for the All A.

AAU 2014
Don't be surprised if Calapari's boy is on the team also.

All A revisit!
You are EXACTLY right on this statement. I mentioned this fact to a member of the All A tourney recently and told him the KHSAA should thank them. If this tourney didn't exist I guarantee there would have been multiple lawsuits for classification by now. If you think not, ask anyone who is really in the know.
-
All A revisit!
And who do you think is going to foot the bill if only these really small teams are involved. You seem to forget this is a self sustaining tourney dollar wise. You have to have a decent number of teams (120) to make enough money to cover the expenses. Believe me the people running this tourney know more about runnning this thing and making it a success than anyone in the state.

Pangallo foul on Ruthsatz- You make the call
You know for someone without knowledge of all the facts your sarcastic attitude makes it affully hard to root for CovCath. To my knowledge no NewCath fans have said this cost them the game. As stated above the majority of responders are not NCC fans, but rather just fans interested in the play. It's your holier than thou attitude that concerns me.

Is there a bias against NKY teams down state?
Then you haven't met anyone I know that lives in NKY. THis is a gross exaggeration.
-
Is there a bias against NKY teams down state?
I think you have hit the nail on the head. But I also think very few NKY people have little or no knowledge of Western Ky. schools. Regions 1-5 could all be combined into an area, and many people don't distinguish between them at all. So I guess because the state is so spread out many fans have very little knowledge of other parts of the state that aren't Lexington or Louisville.

Are the Catholic schools taking over 9th region basketball?
One thing I have noticed is that a number of public schools don't have as many teams at the middle school level. I think Conner middle school only had one 6th grade team and all the kids that didn't make the team play intramural ball. With a school system that big they could have 4 or 5 teams per grade that play competively, giving more kids a chance to develop. But to answer yorr question, no I don't think they are taking over. Just in a good run right now. I do believe that many parocial grade schools have EXCEPTIONAL coaches who really prepare kids for high school.

Region POY/COY
Interesting note that Kiernan and Futcher from the 9th and 10th went to the same grade school. St. Joe's in Cold Spring.

Newport Central Catholic 48 Notre Dame 46 OT (9th Region Finals)
I for one appreciate it. It is a different game, and in some ways requires more and different skills. Once those are appreciated I think it is a very interesting game. For one thing, I'm not convinced the girls don't shoot foul shots better than the boys.

Covington Catholic 51 Newport Central Catholic 43 (9th)
A comment on one of your points. This is not meant to imply the ball should or should not have gone inside more, but my guess is McDonald is second on the team in assists. So the ball has come out a lot this year when it went inside. Yesterday was an exception as I thought CovCath did a good job of cutting off the passing lanes.
-
Can anyone guess what this is and what year it is from?
Without looking it up would that have the team with Howard Critteden and "Doodles" Floyd?

Someone asked about early Class A and Class B Region Champions...
Very interesting. Thanks for the information.

Region Tournament Officials Swap
I am saying that the officials who are chosen to work the regional tournament are the best we have and didn't get to that position by being homers or cronies of coaches.
