The rule isn't for the best interest of the kid being held back, it is for the kids he will be older than and more mature than when he plays against younger opponents. You are missing the point completely.

If the private school they transfer to is part of the KHSAA they are bound by the same rules as the public schools.

Obviously you have some bad info about NKY. This is not prevalent at all. Many kids graduate when they are 17, or just turned 18. Ironically, several years ago at the state football finals a fellow I spoke to said that many kids in Western Ky are held back, and he was surprised that it didn't happen in NKY.

You make an excellent point. I'm sure these same coaches who don't usually vote are the same ones who cry foul when thay have a good kid who doesn't get recognized. How much trouble can it be to list the 20 or so best players you saw and submit it to the paper. This is really sad, and grossly unfair to the kids who don't get their just recognition.

Great comment Jumper. It is VERY obvious that RC is jealous of the ALL A schools and the fact his kids can't play in it. As you said, "Thou doest protest too much" to believe it is nothing more than something you don't agree with. Let people celebrate ant way they want. If you don't agree, ignore them.

After the results of the State Tournament maybe their is a good reason the 9th region people promote their players.

Ask coaches in the 9th region and you will get a different answer. I have and he gets a lot more respect than you are giving him. Not saying he should win, but to say he shouldn't be in the conversation in a gross misstatement.

Agree completely with what you say. I have no problem with the Sweet 16. I DO have a BIG problem with people who dismiss the ALL A as a tourney for also rans. If you don't like it don't go, pay attention, read about it, or whatever, but don't dismiss what these schools and their players accomplish as worthless because you don't like the tourney.

You very conviently dismissed the track issue. They have 3 classifications in track, and don't tell me you need a lot more kids to be good in track than basketball.

Damn good thing they have it or your "oh so sweet 16" would have gone the way of Indiana through multiple court cases. If you don't believe this your more naive than I thought. Just check out how hard it is for the KHSAA to just rule a kid ineligible anymore without the courts overturning it.
