The Coach Ruthsatz thread and its discussion of the future of the 9th Region has got me to thinking about what players the frontrunners of the 9th Region for next season bring to the floor.

 

This in no way is a complete assessment as I can only speculate, and do not know every team's potential squad, especially the 33rd with whom I'm terribly unfamiliar.

 

No doubt this job is better suited for Walter (Speaking of Walter... where the heck is he, haven't seen him out here in a while?)

 

I think that it's safe to say that no matter each team's talent, big or not, you absolutely must have a saavy in control floor general at the point (as was exclamated by Nick Ruthsatz) or everything else is pointless.

 

Please help fill in the gaps here with your knowledge of certain teams and who we're likely to see be the major players and what they bring, especially in the 33rd, which I won't even attempt for knowing next to nothing about them other than the team names and their mascots.

 

Who in the 33rd will be in the thick of things as well as any other 9th Region team's players that I'm overlooking?

9th Region lost a lot of great senior players. With the loss comes opportunity for others to step up and lead and show their game. It will be interesting to see how these teams regroup.

I think you should add Mitchell Cain to the list of Highlands players who have a lot of upside. Cain was promoted to the starting lineup in the latter part of the season as a sophomore.

Same three teams from this year(CovCath, NewCath and Holmes) will be the heavy favorites next year. One of them will win the 9th region.

In order for CCH to compete for the region title again they'll need the tourney version of Bo. Kid was REALLY good on both ends during the tourney run.

Would agree here. As much as I wanted to say that I felt her was over rated he kept proving me wrong. He had a very solid Regional and State tournament. Will be exiting to see what he does with his AAU this summer and what he brings back to his HS game.

Strong future. However, he may not be the best incoming frosh at CCH.

 

Aiden R does have a really nice PG game.

For being young and small, and only winning a hand full of games this past season, Holy Cross still played with a lot of heart and tenacity. It appears that they have a firm handle on their long term goals, and didn't let a lot of losing get the best of them.

 

As they mature, I'm anxious to see how they grow and gel as a team. I look for them to be a little better in the 14/15 season, and hit their apex in the 15/16 season, where they could actually be a frontrunner in a couple of years. They certainly should be one of the more experienced teams in the region by then.

Completely false. He wasn't even the best player on the Pius team. When you throw in incoming kids from other schools, can think of quite a few better. Fine point guard as Clyde said.

I admittedly know very very little about the northern KY schools. It appears I was given some bad info.

Very good player but best incoming freshman in nky next year will be 5'11 Holmes pg Raavai Commodore, younger brother of former Holmes player Chris Englemon. Kid is LEGIT and that is from AAU coaches and jv coaches who have seen him play.

 

Size 14 shoe, quick as Bolden at the same age and gets to the rim with ease. If he gets a consistent jumper, look out. Kid has the potential to be big time. From what I'm told, he will be in a great position to get varsity mins next year.
