Who are your choices?

Ruthsatz. My opinion. He makes guys around him better, executes the coaches game plan, and does well in multiple facets of the game. He can score, pass, defend, and he's gritty & tough. He also is a high IQ player. I don't know that it's too close.... Bolden and Hatton can score in bunches, but that's where their money is. Both really good, but I just think it's Ruthsatz at this point...

 

NCC has so much talent that the team shines night in and night out, but it could be any 1 of 5 or 6 players at any given time.

Ruthsatz is it for me. Take him off that team and they are far from being as good as they are. Any one of the NCC players could be removed and I don't think their drop off is as significant. Bolden and Hatton are good, real good, but they have not taken their teams to the next level the way Ruthsatz has. If Nick was 6" taller he would be a DI stud.

I said in another thread that it would be Ruthsatz & it's really not close in my mind. Bolden would be #2 & Hatton #3. What you said about NCC is how I feel as well.

 

But as I also said in another thread, there are others who know much more about the 9th than I do.

I'd go with Ruthsatz right now as well as he has elevated Covcath to a level that honestly wasn't expected by many this year. He gets his teammates involved, scores, and is actually a pretty good defender.

 

I'd go with Bolden and Hatton 2/3 after that. It honestly depends on which team advances furthest. If Holmes gets back to state, it's going to be tough to not give it to Bolden as he is the most talented player in the region.

 

It will be tough to give it to a Newcath player because they are so talented all around. Any one of their players could be considered the leader and you wouldn't be wrong. McDonald obviously gets the hype (very deserving as well) but Tanner Moeves and Zack Pangallo have also played at an elite level at times throughout this season to lead the Breds. Jake Schulte has also had his moments and I believe the vocal aspect of his game really gets overlooked.

 

Any of the players above are deserving of the award with not much argument, but right now I think I'd go with Ruthsatz. Ask me in two or three weeks and that may change.

Hatton for me. I just think he is by far the most valuable to his team. I don't think Dixie is .500 without him. AS always, many are deserving as mentioned. I don't agree that CCH would be not nearly as good without Ruth. They would still be in the hunt.

If a lot of players were 6" taller they would be DI studs, for example, Robert Shaw of St. X, Tre Ivory of Trinity, Bolden of Holmes et al. Can you imagine Kelan Martin at 7 feet?

Drew isn't a kid that gets caught up on personal accolades. He much rather go to Rupp than win the POY award. (As I'm sure the other 3 candidates would as well)
