9th Region POY Battle

Featured Replies

I get where you are coming from on that but cant we all agree that the Top 4 in the running have had fantastic years up to this point? Its not like you are going to give it to someone who may surprise folks in an end of the yr tourney.

Yes you are right, but you can also be the best and in a team that has no shot at winning regionals or even making regionals.

I feel the best player shouldn't be penalized if he doesn't play on the best team per say.

I will say:

1. Ruthsatz

2. Bolden

3. Hatton

4. McDonald

Another good point. What about the kid from Beechwood a few yrs back, wasnt he in the running for POY?

Give me Beetle. No question the best player in the 9th.

There are plenty of questions about this I'm afraid.

Theoldguy and Walter.

The one point that several on here are making that I find completely false is the comparison of the other talent at Dixie and CovCath. The supporting cast at Dixie consists of some very good players. Hatton is not a one man show. At times they play that style of ball to maximize that talents of Hatton, but I think Dixie has a very good group around him.

My pick would be Ruthsatz. I think he has the most complete game because of his ability to get others involved.

100% agree. I would argue the surrounding cast is overall better than CovCath. VonHandorf, Schult, and Schuh are all nice players, but Dixie is deeper. With Schreck, Daria, Niehaus, Hedger, Rabe, and then Moore (athlete) and Bolin (6'7", although I have to think misused at times). I think you'll see the best of these guys when Hatton is gone. He doesn't run the show at Dixie, he IS the show. Not arguing he shouldn't be, he's really good! D1 good! Just a different dynamic with him and Nick R.

However, Ruthsatz makes the talent around him look better. He can do it in multiple ways.

Enquirer POY over last few seasons. Looks like this is based at times on their selection with coaches input.

2012-2013 Bolden (Holmes)

2011-2012 Rice (Holmes)

2010-2011 I'm guessing Giesler from NCC. Couldn't find for sure.

2009-2010 Pittman (Holmes)

2008-2009 R.Johnson (Holmes)

2007-2008 Henderson (Holmes)

2006-2007 Pelle (Silver Grove)

I was kind of surprised that the 9th regions all time leading scorer hadn't won the award and that Holmes players have owned the award as of late.

That would preclude you from posting, so I doubt it. My post was a joke, with both of them lobbying for their own guys.

Sorry guys, I just don't see how Dixie is deeper. CovCath's 9 and 10 are pretty nice players as well, with a nice JV team that hasn't hardly seen Varsity minutes. It's just tough to get minutes.

If the talent at Dixie is so good, and they have a D1 confirmed talent in Hatton, where are the results against the better teams? Let's not throw all this on the coach.

I see some nice players at Dixie, but not anything too special or better than the pipelines at NCC, CCH and Holmes.

Really?

Actually, the only posts I have made in this thread was to answer two different questions. One about where to find stats for the four players involved and a member who was inquiring who Tony Campbell was!

Gee was it that long ago? Holy Cross big man!

You can go to the KHSAA scoreboard web site where CovCath has posted their stats since game 1 and Dixie has just posted theirs but Holmes and NCC no show on the stats!

I get the joke on Walter and I but your comment was incorrect about me lobbying for Nick!

Nick needs no lobbying form me, his stats speak loud and clear for him!

Relax, I agree with you. I think your guy should win. His team and their accomplishments are a direct reflection on him.

The region players of the year that get honored at the Sweet 16 have to be seniors, which would exclude Bolden and McDonald.

My post was a joke on top of your joke. (Honestly, I don't even know what it means. TOG and Walter said they would each buy me a beer if I posted that).
