Hatton is the best player in the 9th. His supporting cast is the weakest and he continues to post solid numbers. I don't think he will get POY because his team will not go down state. The person who leads his team probably wins the prize.

McDonald pours out steady stats every game, his problem with winning POY is that his team has so many weapons that his numbers may not reflect how good he is and how much he helps the team. Great example is Pangallo winning MVP of the all A. Drew had solid games, but it seemed like a different player stepped up every game. I want him on my team though he is not a flashy as the other 3, he is a better teammate. That may hurt his chances for an award.

CovCath currently is 23-1!

Sorry guys, I just don't see how Dixie is deeper. CovCath's 9 and 10 are pretty nice players as well, with a nice JV team that hasn't hardly seen Varsity minutes. It's just tough to get minutes.

 

If the talent at Dixie is so good, and they have a D1 confirmed talent in Hatton, where are the results against the better teams? Let's not throw all this on the coach.

 

I see some nice players at Dixie, but not anything too special or better than the pipelines at NCC, CCH and Holmes.

I throw it all there. If Chev were coaching CCH all year, and Dixie had Ruthsatz coaching them all year, I firmly believe you would see very different results. We all saw what Chev did a couple of seasons ago when Dixie was the hands down favorite :(

I'd be really interested I how many shots per game Ruth takes. Omega Man isn't the first to talk about selifish play as it appears when you watch them play, and I'm not talking about myself because I have never said the same, but I have heard it said more times than once.

I have seen them all play several times. I would have them in this order.

 

1-Ruthsatz (most complete player offense and defense)

2-Bolden

3-Hatton

 

I totally disagree with Ruthsatz being selfish.

 

Please don't act like Bolden and Hatton don't get their fair share of shots up per game. I would say they both shot as much, or more shots and have less assists per game.

 

 

All three of these players are very good, and should be taking the majority of shots on their team.

I agree. I don't think there is a consensus in this thread about what the subject is.

 

Clyde has linked the Northern KY POY article, which is open to some teams from the 8th, 9th and 10th region teams, so you could add in a few more players.

 

There is the KABC 9th Region player of the year that is honored during the Sweet 16. This player has to be a senior, so you remove some players from consideration.

 

Finally there is the generic "Who is the best (or most important) player in the 9th Region." It seems like this is what most people are discussing, but if so, the awards that have been referenced aren't truly a representation of the subject. As far as I can see, there is no official award or selection for best player (regardless of class) in the region.

He has taken 175 foul shots, next closest is Schuh at 63 attempts.

He has the worse shooting % among the starters. at 44%.

He has taken 30 more 3's than any other player and is shooting 36.4%. Heppler is at 50%.

As for double digit scorers, according to KHSAA, Heppler is at 10.3 PPG only other player to have double digits.

You got to be kidding me! 9.9 and 9.5 are double digits when rounded and 8.7 is the lowest average of a starter!
