I'm not sure I agree with how they select players. Why not select the team based on their 30 game junior season? You're gonna tell me they can tell who the best players are based on a one day tryout? There were 5 players who were in Knoxville for an aau tournament this weekend. They played 2 games friday night, then left Knoxville at 6am and drove to Georgetown and had to play another game at nearly 10 o'clock. No way those kids were 100% for those tryouts.

I'm not going to call a kid out but there are several names on the list that really surprise me and there are several kids who didnt make the team that surprise me.

I was very impressed the Hagen in the tryouts, certainly had a better showing than 50% of the people on that list. By looking at the list, it is mainly name based and others are political based..

Ahh, the annual "it's political" post.

Ahh, the annual "it's political" post.

It is though. While at the tryouts I had this conversation with a high school assistant and based on what we saw at the tryouts there is no way they could have picked the top 18 players of that day based on the performances in the gym. Tryouts were from 10-4 and from what I saw with the exception of Terrell Gray during the drills there wasn't anyone who stood out to me. When everyone does what you expect them to do, it becomes political and you go with the 'name' kids.
