  1. Scott is lucky to have Dave Campbell as their head coach. Keep on believin' Eagles!
  2. You said above that the college coaches arent allowed with those kids, but in KY the high school coaches are allowed. HS kids are having organized and instructional practices every day with their coaching staffs with the exception of full contact, minus the dead period Coaches are using blocking shields, sleds and any other resource necessary to get the most out of their summer days. I disagree with you and think that there is only a night and day difference to how high school practices were ran 20 years ago vs today. Schools like Highlands and CovCath and many more are putting in that amount of time. In Ky the first official day of practice is around june 1 with helmets only. the first contact day is around Aug 1 depending on when u start school. With college football, the first official day is around week 2 of August.
  3. College football started last night. College coaches do not have their players out there every day in the summer practicing football. Most high schools started last week, one week difference from college so why do high school coaches need more time? KY HS coaches have 9 weeks in summer and August, 3 with full equipment to prepare for Game 1.
  4. I dont buy the "Less time to practice" excuse. With Spring Ball and the ability to instruct from June 1 with the exception of dead period, coaches have PLENTY of time. In Ohio, you get 7 instructional days during summer and NO spring ball. The rest is limited to lifting/running. If colleges can begin in the first or second week of August, I think Ky is more than generous with the time they allow you to spend with kids. You are not going to see coaches stick around like Coach Schneider at New Cath. In general, people get a job for a couple of years, learn from it and move on. 30, 40 and 50 years ago, people held on to their jobs and were loyal to their companies, whether it was P&G or a coaching position at a high school.
  5. In 2008, Middletown beat Colerain 42-39. In 2009, they lost to Colerain 7-10 and beat Moeller by 35. Regardless of how many kids Middletown lost to graduation, this was not a good matchup for SK. Coach Marksberry is a quality coach and didnt lose this one. They were just outskilled at several positions. There was no play in the playbook or player on the sideline that would have made a difference. Good luck to SK the rest of the season. They will be a good football team!
  6. Many teams run power out of the shotgun. The Florida Gators made a living off of running that play with the backs and Mr. Tebow.
  7. Congrats to NCC. Their running back performed well in the fourth quarter and earned the tough yards needed for that victory. I thought these were two very good football teams. Dixie made too many turnovers. I believe NCC may get back to state this year!
  8. As far as your cons go, why play football at any level?
  9. MORE PLAYERS NEED TO HEAR THIS. Bigger isnt always better. I also believe that if you are a regular walk on, you have about 2-3 days to prove yourself; and as stated above, this is after the rest of the team has been in camp for a number of weeks. the walk on gets thrown into the fire. So if you are a player who has the opportunity to play football at thomas more or have the possibility to walk on at UK, rethink what you are doing. many great players walk on, dont make the team, and that is the end of the career.
  10. Craig Mullins: 1. 17 years experience at Georgetown and California University of Pennsylvania. 2. 4 year player for Georgetown College 3. 4 year player for Boone County 4. 2 National championships 5. Numerous Mid South Conference Championships 6. Coached/mentored under legendary Red Faught (who basically invented the run and shoot offense) 7. Coached under and played under legendary NAIA coaches Bill Cronin and Kevin Donnelly. 8. Produced great players: Eddie Eviston, Jeff Smith, Dane Damron 9. Great Guy! Christian and Family man! 10. Players love him! Slam dunk!
  11. Whoever plays Ryle will have their hands full for the next two seasons (Travis Elliot).
  12. 6A will always be tough but Cooper made huge improvements in one year! Their coaches did a nice job. Was their running back last year a junior or senior? The other 6A teams have lost some key players, especially SK.
  13. Ben Frisch started DL. Kevin Morrison started OL. Bo Geison started TE. Frank Kramer? These were all big contributors.
  14. Shame that this happened. Turner has had some great years at MC. I wish him the best. At 51-30, it seemed to be a job well done except for this season. As for 8 games scheduled, shame on the AD. MC is a team that has been willing to play almost anyone in the state. I dont know their history vs Louisville schools, but they have been willing to play teams like Highlands and all the Lex schools. Looking at KHSAA, former coach Paul raines did a similar job as Turner, going 46-23, if my math is correct. Before Raines, Bill Cronin (georgetown college's head coach) did a nice job getting this program on the map. I believe he had a 12-2 season there and lost in the semis. There is a post above that claimed Madison has underachieved in the playoffs. Maybe fans of MC need to realize that they are a pretty good program, just not a great one. Since Bill Cronin took over, they really have only had one poor season. and if Cronin, a coach who has won numerous national championships at the college level, couldnt win the big one at MC, maybe its just not in the making down there. Best of luck to Coach Turner - something good will come your way !!
  15. When is the last time that NKY QBs posted these types of numbers? I am sure the NKY defensive coordinators were very worried each week. Lawrence (SK): pas for 1390, 15 tds, run for 846, 11 tds Kremer (CC): pass for 2587 and 20 tds West (CON): pass for 2178 and 18 tds, run for 946 and 18 tds Wilson (DX): pass for 2159 and 19 tds, rush for 700 + yds and 6 tds McGuire (LLD: pass for 1902 15 tds Sowder (SCOTT): run for 1752, 14 tds Erpenbeck (CCH): run for 1071, 14 tds and pass for another 1000 +
  16. If you were behind the bench, are you sure you didnt sneak onto the sideline and cause the penalty? Apparently, you have a good set of eyes and ears. Did you really hear the conversations of the Dixie staff and sideline official in the commotion of the game? There had to be at least 100 people on the team's sideline. If the TD stands, the team who has the ball last would have scored. Now, that may have very well been CCH, but we will never know.
  17. Even if the flag is thrown, the yardage should be enforced on the succeeding play because it is a NON PLAYER foul. TD should stand. The official and every member of that crew was wrong. I dont think Dixie was robbed of a win, just robbed of a TD and 28-20 lead and momentum.
  18. I have heard the referees are suspended next week. For any "non-player" penalty, the yards should be marked off after the play. That is the rule. Points should have stood.
  19. I dont know how any fan of CCH, Dixie, or high school football in general could agree with this call. They could throw a sideline flag for every single play of the game if they wanted to - just like they could probably throw a flag for holding on every single offensive play. But honestly, I cannot remember one time this year where I have seen a flag thrown for holding. Refs do not call holding anymore.
  20. Let's not forget Wison: 21-31 for 375 yards and a few TDs. He ran for 50 +. He also had a dropped TD in the endzone. Tack on the 90 yard TD pass that was called back and his night was even better than erpenbecks. Both qbs were great
  21. Hansel gets alot of press (in which he deserves) but #50 might be their most underated player!!!!!!!!!
