  1. this is taken from a website from former player, Coach Crosby from Mariemont HS: My high school football coach, Bob Lewis, passed away Thursday at the age of 83. I’ve teared up several times in the last few days thinking about him. He was a tough guy and a task master and also very intelligent with a memory like a steel vault. His quick wit was no match for anyone and I remember his ability in the classroom to define ANY word you gave him by breaking down the syllables and going from there… it was amazing to me. In game preparation, he would remind us to look out for plays opposing coaches used years prior and sure enough they would try one against us and we were ready for it. We were undefeated at Wyoming in ’68 and ’69, my junior and senior years. Oak Hills and Colerain were in our league. We were a fairly talented group but I think we won many of our games because of Coach Lewis. He was an innovator of the game who had a knack for anticipating what the other team was going to do and made great adjustments during the game. No one could out fox him and we were always well prepared. He was light on praise to say the least and he expected us to do our job but that was ok with us. We loved him and he loved us. Coach Lewis had 11 undefeated seasons in 23 years at Wyoming. I doubt if many coaches at any level have matched that. Most of his career there wasn’t a playoff system. Wyoming won the state title in ’77 and I am confident would have won it several other times prior had there been the opportunity. My close friend Bernie Barre and other Wyoming alums are High School Football Coaches because of Bob Lewis. He has had a lasting impact on my life.
