Beechwood has no winning seasons in the last 10 years. Their best record in that time was last year at 14-14 under the coach that just resigned. Their last winning season was under Dick Maile in 2013-14. Girls leaving the program as they get older has been common under 3 different coaches over the past ten years. This is a program culture change issue that needs to be built from middle school on up. Drill from middle school up - skills, defense and culture.

What has happened to my Frisch's Big Boy?
Voice of Reason replied to Oldercoach's topic in BGP Break Room
There is truth here. Big Boy meal is probably a couple dollars more. However I do think the tartar sauce is unique. Hot fudge cake. Fish sandwich. All unique and delicious. The quality is as good as any other fast food burger place. -
Stefon Diggs Traded to the Houston Texans

Wow. Buffalo really wanted to get rid of him. That trade is a ccomplete embarrassment for Diggs. Buffalo basically said please, please take this problem off our hands. -
What has happened to my Frisch's Big Boy?
Voice of Reason replied to Oldercoach's topic in BGP Break Room
It's all about the drive thru now. How many people do you see sitting in a McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's or other fast food place? Frisch's is stuck a little in sit down mode. They need to market to the youngsters, build the app, get them their free French fry and staff up the drive thru. -

I am with you there. My daughter played high school basketball. I think it is great to see the interest being generated. My comment above is purely from a personal entertainment perspective. -

I hesitate to post this in the face of all the hype. I watched most of the second half last night. Clark is fun to watch, but I just do not connect with women's college nor professional basketball. I can't even tell you what it is. I just don't enjoy it like I do men's basketball. Sorry for the interruption. Let the hype continue. -
Nationals at Reds (3/28 - 3/31)
Voice of Reason replied to theguru's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
I don't think Diaz will lead the Reds in saves this year. He struggled at the end of last year and he looked the same in that outing yesterday. He has dropped his arm angle and lost his control. -

Can Cal tell the 6 recruits to sit here, be happy with your 0-10 minutes a game; and work on learning here on the bench in games, and in practice? -
NC State vs. Purdue Predictions/Updates (NCAA Final 4)
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
Edey is too much for the NC State big men. NC St has to attack Edey with their bigs and try to get Edey in foul trouble. Officiating the inside game will be a huge factor in this game. -
Alabama vs. UConn Predictions/Updates (NCAA Final 4)

Can Alabama score 100 against U Conn? They will need that many to win. -
NC State 76 Duke 64 (NCAA Elite 8)
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
I am going to beat the dead horse a little - Duke is too young to win this one against a group of experienced men. Two freshmen and two sophomores in their top 5. If Shead did not get hurt, they would have lost the last game. -
Duke 54 Houston 51 (NCAA Sweet 16)
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
You are missing my point. I am not saying getting older and having more experience means you win. It gives you a better chance to win but it doesn't mean you win when everyone else is also more experienced. The main point is this. If you rely on freshmen, no matter how talented they are, you will not win a title. Cal going back to one and done has set himself up for failure. And he is headed down that path again next year. -

Good. UK needs him back.

Duke 54 Houston 51 (NCAA Sweet 16)
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
UK fans don't want to hear this, but if they want to have hope for UK next year, they need to hope Duke goes far. Duke is the only team left that is playing any freshmen. We know Cal's model is to play freshmen even though it hasn't worked the last 5 years. If a UK fan wants to have hope for a deep tourney run next year, it would be helpful to see the one team left that plays freshmen go deep. -

I have been seeing that bull your way to the basket move the whole tournament. Refs are not calling it. I don't know why more players aren't doing it. I am glad you brought this up. I was watching last night and thought how do you stop that? Flop and try to draw an offensive foul? If the defender use their body to push back, they will call a foul. I don't know what a defender can do. Next game will be interesting. NC State beat Duke in the ACC tournament. Filipowski versus Big Burns. Let's see how the refs handle that shoving match. -
I am looking at the teams in the Elite 8. I checked minutes played for each of the Elite 8 teams and checked the class of their top 6 players in minutes played. That gives us 48 players. How many freshmen are in the top 6 of these 8 teams? ........ 3, and two of them are on Duke's team who benefited from Houston's best player being injured in the first half. If Houston wins that game, there would be one freshman (Castle, U Conn) in the top 6 players of the Elite 8. Here is the breakdown of the class of the Elite 8 top 6: Seniors ...... 26 Juniors ....... 7 Sophomores ... 12 Freshmen ...... 3 More than half the players are seniors. Two thirds of the players are seniors or juniors. One and done is dead. Experience wins. In his opening press conference UL coach Pat Kelsey said your roster needs to get old and stay old. I think he is right. I think if I looked at the 8 teams from the sweet sixteen that lost, the numbers would be similar. UK had 4 freshmen in their top 6 in minutes played. They are loaded up with freshmen again with 6 incoming in 2024-25. Not good. UK needs Sheppard, Wagner, Edwards and Bradshaw to return

It's a shame to see an injury happen at this point. A whole season down the drain because of bad luck. -

Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
Purdue is the champion on my bracket. I didn't feel good about it when I finished my sheet, but I am good with it now. -
Of course. It's all fixed. Everything, everywhere - "somebody" is in control. Nothing just happens.
-
It is all about defense for me FC. The teams still playing, including Alabama, are playing defense better than UK did at any time. If you want to hang your hat on the hope UK would have played better defense, that is on you.

Pat Kelsey named Louisville's next basketball coach
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
Maybe. But Kelsey's energy and enthusiasm are infectious and it started with that corny joke. I am a UK fan first. I am also that unicorn UK fan that roots for UL. Right now, I am more excited about UL basketball next year than UK. -
Yes, I believe 6 incoming freshmen. As to the numbers, Dillingham is gone for sure. Add that to Theiro leaving and the grads and there is a one scholarship difference. Scholarships should not be a problem after everyone makes their decisions.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for Reds baseball in every way. Please pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
