Nationals at Reds (3/28 - 3/31)
Voice of Reason replied to theguru's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Yesterday was a beautiful day for Reds baseball in every way. Please pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. -
That was then. I don't think end of the year UK beats either of those teams last night.

Pat Kelsey named Louisville's next basketball coach
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
I think my favorite response from the press conference was when a reporter asked him the timetable for winning. Kelsey paused for a second and looked genuinely confused, then said ... Now! If you aren't ready to win now don't even lace your shoes up. -

As played and corny as that joke is, it still got a huge laugh from the room. -

You gotta love that guy Deuce. I am a UL fan but not close to the fan you are and I am excited about this hire. I will be shocked if he doesn't have UL winning next year. He will find a way. -
I watch these sweet 16 games and the difference in level of play on defense shows how far off UK was from being able to compete with these teams. Every team I saw tonight, winners and losers, would have beaten UK. But I watched less than a minute of San Diego St, so maybe UK would have had a chance against them.

Thank God for small mercies. -

The injuries listed by REALSPORT plus starting 3B Noelvi Marte is out 80 games due to PED violation. So 1/3 of the starting hitters out. But this team has depth. We will see if that depth pays off. -

If you are at an all time low, you ignored last year. That team last year was a lot of fun. My excitement for this year has been tempered by the injuries. Still, it has been several years since I was this excited for a Reds season coming out of spring training. -
My understanding is it was just a couple minutes from the mayday call to the collapse. There must have been first responders in place because of the construction work and they were able to stop traffic. No way they could have made it to the bridge on both side and stopped traffic in 2 minutes.
-
I am curious how they were able to stop traffic so quickly. The ship mayday call was just a couple minutes before it hit the bridge yet they were able to stop traffic going onto the bridge. How did they do that? Toll gates?

I was wrong twice on Mack. When he was hired at Xavier, I thought it was a bad hire. Wrong. When he was hired at Louisville. I thoughtit was a great hire and he would be there a long time. Wrong again.

Because of how long it is taking?

He's listed in the article linked a couple posts above. They said the negative on him is lack head coach experience.

Houston 100 Texas A&M 95 OT (NCAA 2nd Round)
Voice of Reason replied to 16thBBall Fan's topic in College Basketball
just a little. Houston's man on man defenders did not allow one clear drive to the basket. When an A&M guard got an angle, there was help defense challenging the drive. No uncontested layups. Despite that, A&M clearly a worthy opponent as they took a 1 seed to OT, an excellent defensive team. -
Who Is The Kentucky Coach Next Season?

I heard the last part of Calipari's radio show on the way home. He isn't going anywhere. -
Who Is The Kentucky Coach Next Season?

Based on what I'm seeing in this year's bracket, if you need a little bracket help start a rumor that their head coach is in line to succeed Calipari. They will lose their next game. -

Much higher than I thought. -

A&M was unable to get any straight line drives against Houston's defenders. -

Samson chose not to foul leading by 3 and T A&M tied it with a 3 at the buzzer. -

I saw a quote of Jay Wright talking about how different life would be for him and his family. He can do family things in Philly and people don't bother him. It would not be that way in KY. -

Is that $4M year one? That seems higher than what I remember for the salary slot. -

I can't remember if Filipowski was still a lottery pick late in the season but I know he was during the season last year. I was paying attention because I have a personal connection with his family. I agree with you that NIL money can impact these decisions to stay. Sheppard probably could make as much if not more playing for UK next year than he will on a rookie NBA contract. -

What measurables? If it is pure athleticism like speed and jumping, I think the opposite. He is a better athlete than people realize. On the lottery pick question, maybe last year - Kyle Filipowski. He was a projected lottery pick in some mock drafts last year. -

I do too but I think he should go. He can only hurt his NBA draft status by staying.
