2026 Simon Kenton Pioneers

The Pioneers started the season with a new coach, hoping for success and starting a new system. A lot of kids got playing time - good for the future. It was definitely a up and down season. The Pioneers need someone with experience running the defense. The Pioneers will replace several very good seniors as well, but they return some good young football players!

Graduated:

WR/DB/P Grayson Harris, RB/DB/LB Landon Brown, LB/ TE Tyler Schoborg, TE/LB Tucker Ober, CB Colton Farsfing, RB/DB Jordan Pendleton, RB Torin Turner, WR Christian Bounds, DB Eli Mullins, DL Stuart Campbell and OL/DL Paul Synder. I am sure I missed a few.

The Pioneers return some good football players and a lot of kids who got playing time.

QB Grant Webb 6'4 200 he will be a Junior

RB Mo Smith  RB Jason Rabe both Juniors to be

WR Michael Newborn, WR Forrest and WR Samuel Hughes will be Juniors and TE Kyle King Sr.

Returning OL Anthony Sparkman SR, Henry Alo SR, Cohen Endicott SR, William Schoborg JR and Timothy Melton JR if he is playing for them this year.

Defense will be lead by Jason Rabe JR and Kyle King SR at linebacker and DB/LB Peyton Testerman JR. DBs Drake Powell SR., Jaxon Davis SR. and SR Jack Giordano return. On the Dline is lead by SR Henry Alo, SR Jayden Rutherford and JR Christian Hicks. Hoping for a great year for the Pioneers!

6'5 205 pound QB Grant Webb is working hard this off season training at Nevels! I believe he is also working out with QB trainer Matt Shearer! He is going to have a great Junior year!

The fieldhouse had been closed as well and was reopened just last week. Although all the light tower poles have all been removed, the football field still remains closed.

I know I missed some Seniors that will be graduating and some underclassmen that will be starting and getting playing time.

SR LB Shawn Kata, SO LB Jackson Ober and JR LB Adam Hubbard should see alot of playing time as well.

The Pioneers have a really good Freshman that played qb this year. He will be a Sophomore next season and play all over the field WR/RB/DB and back up QB 5'11 165 pounds Tay Naire! He is doing really good this winter at indoor track!

Rabe at linebacker and running back is now 6'0 220 pounds as a Junior. Along with Kyle King 6'2 215. Webb at QB 6'5 205 and Mo Smith at RB/DB 6'2 190. The Hughes twins 6'3 185 at receivers!

I have been hearing that the football team has not been able to have their winter workouts due to the light falling and some structural damage found to some of the other light poles around the football field. Hopefully, the team has been able to find another location to have their workouts temporarily, but has anyone heard this or have any info on this?

They have a indoor field and a huge practice field.

Correct, I have heard they are not allowed to access the indoor facility at all, currently. From what I was told, the light poles that they found structural issues with could "fall onto the field house" and therefore no one is allowed to use the field house. Again, just something I was told by someone who heard something. Didn't know if it was true, so wanted to see if anyone else had heard this.

What a nice graphic!

Good luck to the Pioneers this year. Who are the players to look out for? Is this a young team overall, a good mix, or a veteran led squad?

Back to back tough games at Cov Cath and then at home vs. Beechwood. The latter end as well as two tough back to back games, at home vs. Ryle and then rounding it out at Cooper. It's nice to see the mix in of Ohio teams as well as Lexington teams too.

I hope this gives them time to find a good Defensive Coordinator!
