  1. UK fans don't want to hear this, but if they want to have hope for UK next year, they need to hope Duke goes far. Duke is the only team left that is playing any freshmen. We know Cal's model is to play freshmen even though it hasn't worked the last 5 years. If a UK fan wants to have hope for a deep tourney run next year, it would be helpful to see the one team left that plays freshmen go deep.
  2. I have been seeing that bull your way to the basket move the whole tournament. Refs are not calling it. I don't know why more players aren't doing it. I am glad you brought this up. I was watching last night and thought how do you stop that? Flop and try to draw an offensive foul? If the defender use their body to push back, they will call a foul. I don't know what a defender can do. Next game will be interesting. NC State beat Duke in the ACC tournament. Filipowski versus Big Burns. Let's see how the refs handle that shoving match.
  3. I am looking at the teams in the Elite 8. I checked minutes played for each of the Elite 8 teams and checked the class of their top 6 players in minutes played. That gives us 48 players. How many freshmen are in the top 6 of these 8 teams? ........ 3, and two of them are on Duke's team who benefited from Houston's best player being injured in the first half. If Houston wins that game, there would be one freshman (Castle, U Conn) in the top 6 players of the Elite 8. Here is the breakdown of the class of the Elite 8 top 6: Seniors ...... 26 Juniors ....... 7 Sophomores ... 12 Freshmen ...... 3 More than half the players are seniors. Two thirds of the players are seniors or juniors. One and done is dead. Experience wins. In his opening press conference UL coach Pat Kelsey said your roster needs to get old and stay old. I think he is right. I think if I looked at the 8 teams from the sweet sixteen that lost, the numbers would be similar. UK had 4 freshmen in their top 6 in minutes played. They are loaded up with freshmen again with 6 incoming in 2024-25. Not good. UK needs Sheppard, Wagner, Edwards and Bradshaw to return
  4. It's a shame to see an injury happen at this point. A whole season down the drain because of bad luck.
  5. Purdue is the champion on my bracket. I didn't feel good about it when I finished my sheet, but I am good with it now.
  6. Of course. It's all fixed. Everything, everywhere - "somebody" is in control. Nothing just happens.
  7. It is all about defense for me FC. The teams still playing, including Alabama, are playing defense better than UK did at any time. If you want to hang your hat on the hope UK would have played better defense, that is on you.
  8. Maybe. But Kelsey's energy and enthusiasm are infectious and it started with that corny joke. I am a UK fan first. I am also that unicorn UK fan that roots for UL. Right now, I am more excited about UL basketball next year than UK.
  9. Yes, I believe 6 incoming freshmen. As to the numbers, Dillingham is gone for sure. Add that to Theiro leaving and the grads and there is a one scholarship difference. Scholarships should not be a problem after everyone makes their decisions.
  10. Yesterday was a beautiful day for Reds baseball in every way. Please pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
  11. That was then. I don't think end of the year UK beats either of those teams last night.
  12. I think my favorite response from the press conference was when a reporter asked him the timetable for winning. Kelsey paused for a second and looked genuinely confused, then said ... Now! If you aren't ready to win now don't even lace your shoes up.
  13. As played and corny as that joke is, it still got a huge laugh from the room.
  14. You gotta love that guy Deuce. I am a UL fan but not close to the fan you are and I am excited about this hire. I will be shocked if he doesn't have UL winning next year. He will find a way.
  15. I watch these sweet 16 games and the difference in level of play on defense shows how far off UK was from being able to compete with these teams. Every team I saw tonight, winners and losers, would have beaten UK. But I watched less than a minute of San Diego St, so maybe UK would have had a chance against them.
  16. The injuries listed by REALSPORT plus starting 3B Noelvi Marte is out 80 games due to PED violation. So 1/3 of the starting hitters out. But this team has depth. We will see if that depth pays off.
  17. If you are at an all time low, you ignored last year. That team last year was a lot of fun. My excitement for this year has been tempered by the injuries. Still, it has been several years since I was this excited for a Reds season coming out of spring training.
  18. My understanding is it was just a couple minutes from the mayday call to the collapse. There must have been first responders in place because of the construction work and they were able to stop traffic. No way they could have made it to the bridge on both side and stopped traffic in 2 minutes.
  19. I am curious how they were able to stop traffic so quickly. The ship mayday call was just a couple minutes before it hit the bridge yet they were able to stop traffic going onto the bridge. How did they do that? Toll gates?
  20. I was wrong twice on Mack. When he was hired at Xavier, I thought it was a bad hire. Wrong. When he was hired at Louisville. I thoughtit was a great hire and he would be there a long time. Wrong again.
  21. He's listed in the article linked a couple posts above. They said the negative on him is lack head coach experience.
