  1. My Grandson heard that he has been offered by Michigan. Go Blue Tim and Todd Schultz and Coach Warner need to swing into action. Bryson played for Jack Harbaugh at WKU
  2. What’s the chances of Mike Engler going back to Lexington Catholic now that he has head coaching experience.
  3. I had the privilege of coaching Jake his freshman year at Ryle. A truly outstanding athlete and scholar. He will be successful whoever he goes both on the field and in the classroom. Jake does things on the field that you cannot coach which is why he is so special. All the best to one of the very best players that I ever had the privilege of coaching.
  4. A pattern of behavior has existed for at least the past three years. The incidents in the Butler game have been seen many times in many games. Football is a simple game you run block tackle throw catch kick. All are fundamentals that are instilled through repetition daily. It’s called practice. Kids learn through repetition which brings a comfort level with what they are doing. This allows their athletic ability to take over and make big plays
  5. 12 years offensive coach at Lexington Catholic Not his first rodeo
  6. Having had the opportunity to coach these kids as Freshmen I can vouch for their grit and determination one can never account for coaching decisions made in the heat of battle that being said running off your goal line with a back up QB and a sophomore RB who has not played in two weeks may not be the best choice, finally it’s the little things that come back to haunt you, the punting game must be practiced every day or it will come back on your face, Congratulations to Great bunch of kids you are special in so many ways,
  7. 4.7 is misleading Ask the kids who are chasing him. He very seldom gets caught from behind.
  8. Super, looks great, It can only enhance the program. Well Done
  9. Hot off the rumor mill: Ryle not playing LaSalle but is playing Indianapolis Cathedral instead. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail. Please research your opponents before you commit. Cathedral reportedly has 10 Division 1 players next year. Playing them in the 6th game of the year would be unfortunate
  10. Very interesting that not one Ryle lineman made the all star team at any level. Jake Chisholm and Tanner Morgan would disagree. Congratulations to all.
  11. A huge test for the Raiders. Special teams and the ability to get some stops defensively. It's that time of the year when you throw all your horses out there. I would think we will see more of Principata, Bisek, and Ross defensively if the Raiders front guys start getting knocked off the ball. Tanner Morgan continues to impress as does Jake Chisholm and Cole Burch. Easton Pilyer, Bryce Ashley, Zach Cusick, Cooper Scherer, continue to perform at high level. This is a game where Jake Long could have been a difference maker. A total team effort will be require to bring this back home. That being said, one has to like the Raiders chance to advance.
  12. Jake and Cole were only a surprise from the standpoint that this years line was an unknown quantity. they are getting better every week. as the man said "From here on out, the rubber meets the road. Exciting times for Raider Football fans. ps. Let the record reflect that Tanner Morgan is committed to the #24 Division 1 team in the country. Ironic don't you think that they saw what so many others have not seen.
  13. Ryle has the premier QB in NKY and quite possibly the state. To abandon the passing game would be very foolish. Ryle seems at times to have difficulty getting their receivers open. They are not particularly big. Possibly it may be time to insert their taller DB's into the Offensive rotation. They are very capable receivers especially Cooper Scherer, Justin Selby, and Zach Rytlewski. This time of the year it's time to get your best on the field as much as possible. Tanner Morgan has an outstanding command of the game and the field situations. Hopefully he has the green light to check off at the line. Jake Chisholm and Cole Burch along with the Ryle line have been an unexpected pleasure this season. But make no mistake about who holds the glue together. The raiders are on a great run but they would not be there without the leadership of Tanner Morgan. Now more than ever it is time to exploit all the offensive weapons in the Raider arsenal. Should be a great game Friday, hope the weatherman cooperates.
  14. one of the things that I learned from Coach Hauck was to not lose your players in practice. We always did shed drill, every practice. Our only live hitting was a 5 minute goal line offense or defense practice. We form tackled a lot which did not require putting them on the ground. I would like to think it worked pretty well for us. At Bellevue in 1979 we gave up 0 points in the 3 playoff games vs Nicholas County, Paintsville, and Richmond Madison.
  15. The bigger question is how the Steeler line NEVER held, never pushed AJ Green into the wall after he was already out of bounds, ruled CJ Yuzomah's TD catch out of bounds, and finally did not see Tyler Boyd's knee on the ground before the fumble. And they wonder why we detest them so much.
  16. kicking it deep and kicking it in the end zone are two different things. The Raiders have been gashed early kicking it to the 5. Squib kicks and onsides kicks seem logical, Actually pretty good coaching.
  17. I'm with you, Tanner Morgan is a special player and a special young man
  18. Just a note of compliment to the job done by Jeff Markesbury. He has done a remarkable job building the program at SK. Before Jeff, even legends like Jim Daugherty could not get it going on a consistent basis. He has done at SK what Campbell County has been unable to do on a consistent basis.
  19. This years team is the fruition of two undefeated FRESHMAN TEAMS. Neither of these teams were blessed with great depth as Freshman. What they do possess is two groups of very determined and well skilled players who as freshman played with a chip on their shoulder. there are a number of Juniors and Seniors who can contribute on both sides of the ball, and for the Raiders to be very successful there are a few that will need to go both ways. Over the past two years they have lost a couple of really good high school athletes which is a shame. That being said, there is enough there to be really good. Injuries, breaks, fate will all pay their parts in this upcoming season. They are blessed with a big time QB, a big time running back by high school standards and several skilled athletes at receivers and linemen. Two inches in height separates Tanner Morgan and Jake Chisholm from the OSU'S, NOTRE DAMES, MICHIGAN'S, PENN STATES, AND ALABAMA, AUBURN, OLE MISS ETC. The constant will be the line. Fortunately the Raiders are blessed with several good sized, hard working linemen that have the skills to play offense and defense. Special teams will be a key component. the kicking game and special teams will account for at least one win this season. All in all, great expectations running high for the Raiders this Fall.
  20. went looking for the Temple kid you mentioned last year. You will have to help me as I could not find him in the group picture. Just a coincidence that the kid from St.X finished behind Tanner at Columbus, committed to Penn State a Nike school, is going. It really does not make any difference since they are all quality kids and hopefully will all do well in college. I live in "real ville" and tend to see things in a different light than some others. Maybe due to 40+ years in education and coaching on both sides of the river. Just saying.
  21. A careful inspection of the Elite 11 invitees will reveal that almost all have committed to Nike Colleges. The rest are uncommitted. Western Michigan is not a Nike school. Maybe a retitle is needed "The Nike Elite 11" the rumor is that if Tanner had not committed to a non Nike school, he would be going West. Just saying !
  22. Well said; when it's all said and done you must have your best players on the field in order to advance. Remember the chain analogy😎
  23. Tanner Morgan 6A QB at Ryle being visited by Michigan State, Indiana, Wake Forest to name a few. Does that qualify as a D1 prospect? Also Cincinnati
  24. The Raiders have two very strong classes coming thru. That being said they must come to the realization that if they are going to move deep into the playoffs there are some key players who will have to spend some time on both sides of the ball. Having some players that are two way players is not a sin. The Raiders have some gifted players who need to be on the field the majority of the time to ensure success.
  25. you must be kidding, Have you not seen him play? Indiana and Michigan State talk to him on a regular basis. Cincinnati was very hot for him maybe that will translate to interest from UK now that the UC OC and QB coaches have moved down South
