  1. With all due respect to all the candidates and potential candidates. If Mike Woolf wants to return as Head Coach, He should get a lot of attention. He is a solid Coach and a solid teacher. He is good with kids. You may not agree with his expertise or his defensive schemes but he gets his players to play hard and work hard. That many times is the missing ingredient. If the players have the talent, he can get it out of them.
  2. Not True. Bryson Warner the Head Coach at Ryle is not a teacher. He is the 1st para-professional Head Coach in Football in NKY in a large program.
  3. I believe that Ryle is going through an identity crisis with their offense. They are a long way from the offense that they ran two years ago to get to the State Championship. Now, we have heard that you must adjust your offense to suit your personel. That never seems to be a problem at Boone County. They know exactly who they are and they are comfortable with it. They may make minor adjustments from season to season but they never lose sight of what they do best and that is running the football. If you watch them closly they run about six offensive plays with slight variations. All educators know that repetition makes you better. One can only imagine how good you can be if you have lots of repetition in a 20 minute offensive signal drill in practice. I believe that Ryle has the players to execute that type of offense. The players and coaches become confident and comfortable with what they are running and that translates to confidence in the game. Please spare me about never beating Trinity with that offense. No one will beat Trinity or St. X until they have the same players as Trinity and St. X. The important aspect is getting your program good enough and strong enough to be able to get there to play the game.
  4. The Rebels are on top of their game. Much credit to Coach Thompson and his staff for staying true to what they know and believe in. They are able to control the tempo of the game with their offense. The other team can't score if they don't have the ball. Their style of offense and defense serves them well as the weather gets colder and unpridictible. Ryle has lots of potential and can be explosive. They are unfortunately inconsistent on Offense and that puts lots of pressure on their Defense. Only time will tell if the switch to the wide open attack will suit the players at Raiderland. There used to be an old axiom in coaching that you lose one game for every Soph. that is in the starting lineup.
  5. The Guru is correct. Both teams have offensive problems to fix. A Bryson Warner team stoned at the one ? That should never happen. The Raiders knew how to run the ball for the last two years. Did the goal line offense change?
  6. Poor clock management at the end of the 1st half. Could have gone in at 20-13 instead of 20-19. At some point in NKY, to win you have to be able to run the ball and run the clock. In the spread offense the thinking is that every play is a TD. Not always.
