  1. Not sure what Lafayette has this year, hope the Indians can pull out a win.
  2. I like the new MCHS Arena, but I don't think it has the atmosphere of the old Barn. That place was unique.
  3. After watching Fugate be the difference in the Estill/Breathitt game, I'd say he's definately one of the top five in pre-season next year. He's a solid 220 and not sure what his 40 time is, but do know he runs away from people. He's a stud on both sides of the ball. By the way, strong post 5wide, Breathitt played a strong schedule this year. I've seen both Breathitt and Belfry play now, and I think it's going to be a good one.
  4. 11-2 Estill team not a real football team??? Prestonsburg, Johnson Central, LCA????? Someone is drinking some Belfry KoolAid.
  5. Two things really turned this game MB. The decision to go for it on 4th and 4 at the 50 with about 5 minutes to go in the half for Estill and not making it and giving Breathitt a short field and a little over 4 minutes to score. If Estill punts and holds then at the half it's a 13-7 game and Estill gets the ball back. The second thing that killed Estill was driving all the way down the field and then dropping the wide open pass in the endzone that would have made it 19-14 at the end of the third. Seems like Estill just got the air taken out of them after these back to back disappointments. Game was closer than the score indicated, but Breathitt is a quality team and Fugate is just a man among boys, he literally picks that Bobcat team up and carries them on his back. Great season by the Engineers though and hope they can keep it going. If I'm not mistaken, Estill is 21-4 over the past two years , losing to Breathitt all four times.
  6. Been a good game so far, Jones has made some questionable play calls especially going for it on 4th down at the 50. That lead to the bobcats 3rd score. Great crowd here, looks like Estill brought half of Irvine!
  7. Ganna??? What are you from Chicago or something? Da Bears.
  8. They've played a weak regular season schedule and a weak playoff schedule, they might as well not show up to play a good team like Breathitt at their place. Oh wait, that's right they nearly beat them last time. I'll agree that Breathitt played a tougher schedule, but at the same time to say Estill didn't play anyone in the playoffs doesn't seem right. They played a 5-5 Somerset team and then an 8-3 Taylor County team at their place while some others were sleepwalking through games with 0-10 and 1-9 teams in the first round. Just a thought.
  9. Choo choo M.B.??? Geez. I agree with ya mama, if Estill can get a lead, things could turn out well for the Engineers.
  10. Not saying Boyd was a great team, but to say a 7-5 district winner who made it to the final 16 in their class is not very good seems a little off. If Knox can hit those little pop passes and control the line of scrimmage they have a chance, but I think Bell's defense will just be too much.
  11. Amazing how effective one or two passes can be when you run the ball down someone's throat 20 straight plays then flick one downfield. Estill gets 8 and 9 guys in the box then usually hits a pass play.
  12. Good win for the Bobcats and a nice first season for Harlan County. I know the Engineers are happy to get another crack at Breathitt County. Should be a great game of hard hitting mountain football.
  13. Estill will find out what? Breathitt beat them by 1 at Breathitt earlier in the year so they know they can play with them and win. Estill contained Fugate pretty well in that game if I recall holding him to less than 100 yards rushing. Estill has gotten better every week. If they continue to chip away and work hard, I predict the 'Neers in this one. I'll say Estill 35 Breathitt 28
  14. Knox impressed me in their game with Boyd, very physical team. I don't think they have enough to topple Bell at their house though. I'll say Bell 28 KC 14
  15. That squib kick at the end of the first half just took the life out of Boyd. Not sure why Boyd didn't just kick out of bounds, but oh well. Good season for the Lions and congrats to Knox Central you guys have a nice football team.
  16. Arthur threw a nice touchdown pass to Waller then Knox returned a short squib kick for a touchdown.
  17. If the cold had no effect, then the companies who make those sideline heaters would be out of business. Anyone who has played and taken a good lick in 30 degree temps knows it hurts more than when it's 60 degrees. It also keeps your fingers and hands from being "as loose and nimble" to receive the ball etc.
  18. I would add Raceland vs Fairview, Russell vs Belfry and Corbin vs Bath County in there.
  19. Can't have a rivalry list without including Ashland/Boyd County as well.
  20. Estill County and Lee County has always been spirited as well even before Estill moved to the 14th. They suspended the series for a few years back in the 90's due to the hot feelings over it.
  21. Agree, wouldn't rule the Lions and homefield out on this one. :thumb:
  22. What kind of offense does Knox run, Odessa? Tell us a little about the program. Obviously they've come a long way in the past few years.
  23. I would think the cold is going to affect teams that like to throw the ball and are more finesse oriented than teams that play a smashmouth type of game. It will also affect kids trying to wrap up and make tackles. Should be interesting to see how it might change the outcomes of some of these second round games.
