  1. I'll buy the referee excuse if it ends up a close game, but you can't pin 21 points on the refs. They didn't shoot 20% on three point attempts or make the 41% that Bath hit. They also didn't shoot 31% to 43% or get out-rebounded by 8. refs can influence a game to an extent, but good teams play through it. That being said, it appears they did let this game get a little out of hand both ways. I didn't see the game, but if Greisser got t'd twice it must have been pretty poor officiating. And Hicks has been known to complain quite a bit about the officiating as well, (for example last week in their loss to Menifee County)
  2. I'll say Montgomery keeps this one close after the Bath embarassment and playing in their own tournament. Manual 75 Montgomery 70
  3. Man, this is exactly what I thought might happen, Montgomery didn't have an answer for Metz. Didn't think it would be a blowout though.
  4. I'd agree, I think Clark will be favored, but the Indians could surprise with a favorable draw.
  5. He's actually about 5'10 in reality, can really jump though and he's like a brick wall with legs. I've played pickup games with the kid and he's about as strong as I've ever seen with the basketball.
  6. Menifee is 3-0 against district foes, so they would have to be put at the top. I was surprised at this score, Rowan must have played really well. Bath better get the ship righted soon with Montgomery next on the slate.
  7. Absolutely, plus Bath is coming off a tough loss at home to Menifee so I'm sure they're looking to bounce back in a big way. I think Montgomery matches up pretty well with Bath other than the Metz kid who is just a beast. Not sure Montgomery has anyone that physically matches up with him. Although not many teams do. This should be a good one.
  8. This is especially impressive with so many middle school programs cutting back their schedules due to budget cuts.
  9. You would have to put Menifee in the top 5 based on scores. They've beaten Rowan, Bath (at Bath) and Fleming recently.
  10. He's a good ballplayer, but really, really needs to put some weight on. They have a lot of talent all over that team. Also have some more good ones still playing 8th grade. They have two good classes in a row there that should be really good in a few years, which is a good thing because their sophomore and jumior classes aren't particularly strong other than Crisp and Manship.
  11. Another nice win for the Wildcats. Now 9-6 on the year.
  12. You would have to put them as the favorite right now. It's at Menifee, and they've already beaten the team (Bath) that most would have picked as the favorite.
  13. It definately wouldn't be Griesser at Montgomery, hardly even leaves the bench! Pretty calm guy.
  14. This thread has some awesome posts and have enjoyed reading them. I LOVE the game of baseball and would have to say if you're basing it on successful professionals currently playing the game, there's no argument that baseball is the top sport in Kentucky.
  15. I agree with Estill being a sleeper, solid program with a good coach. Boyd is loaded with Sophomore talent, but could be a year away. I would put Greenup at the top, then Ashland, Boyd, and East Carter bunched together at the next level. Farview could be a sleeper. The 16th isn't particularly strong at the moment. I do believe the coaching change will do a world of good for Boyd, they were declining.
  16. This is a problem that's becoming a cancer in a lot of school districts.
  17. Ah, well my mistake. Guess I'm used to the 40th and their reward for winning format.
  18. Hey, Riverside could have said "Thanks but no thanks" when asked to play in the event.
  19. So what do you do? Play with 4? Suit up some cheerleaders? They played all 15 and the starters only played 7 minutes. Hate to see games like this but it happens.
  20. Oh this would be great! Then Montgomery would have to justify that 8 million dollar gymnasium they only 1/3 fill during the regular season! Montgomery would almost be as close to the teams in the 14th as they would the teams in the 16th. They used to be in same district as Estill. Any way you slice it Montgomery has to travel a ways to some of the teams in their region, even in the 10th.
  21. Can't see Montgomery going to the 16th, since most of the teams in the region are so far away. There's already bellyaching in football about how far Montgomery has to travel to play Ashland and vice versa. Plus who would move to the 40th?
  22. Great win for Menifee which puts them in the driver's seat for the top seed in the district after already beating Rowan County. Coach Moore has this program on the climb. Surprised Hicks didn't have a coronary on the sidelines.
