Brrrrrr!!!! Cold This Friday

Featured Replies

Forecast for Corbin (and most of the state) is for a chance of snow during the day Friday....with a high of 32. Low temperature Friday night 14 - 18 degrees.

The coldest high school game I ever remember was the '03 finals, probably the coldest I've ever been.

What effect will the cold have on your team, whether running or passing.

I know the natural grass fields will be frozen hard as a rock, how does the freezing weather effect the artificial turf and the rubber pellets?

They are now chunks of coal...

Coldest HS game I ever attended was in 1976. Oldham County hosting Louisville Central. It was the last game of the season and I was a trumpet player in the OC band.

It was so cold the brass players couldn't stiffen their lips up enough to make decent sounds come out of their instruments...

The temperature was somewhere around 10 degrees... no telling what the wind-chill was. We didn't talk about wind-chill much in the 70s...

:creepy:

Yeah, we were either tough or stupid back in the 70's.

Probably stupid, cause we didn't know the wind made it feel colder.:ylsuper:

Brrrrrrrr....

I would think the cold is going to affect teams that like to throw the ball and are more finesse oriented than teams that play a smashmouth type of game. It will also affect kids trying to wrap up and make tackles. Should be interesting to see how it might change the outcomes of some of these second round games.

I don’t think it will affect anybody on the field I know when I played it was around 30 Degrees and long as you stay moving you will stay warm. But for those in the stands bundle up...lol

I think it will affect the fans and cheerleaders more than players and coaches.

It will affect the fans and cheerleaders of the teams that are losing the most.........

Thank God for press boxes... :D

(especially HEATED press boxes!)

I think it could have an effect on kid who only plays one way, a running back who gets warm and then has to sit for several minutes while the defense is on the field could have some troubles, getting loose then getting tight sitting there, hamstriings come to mind. Might be a good time to be going both ways this week????

Good point.
