This thread brings back my COLD experiences. 8-12 year old kids playing little league football in Wyandotte Michigan. I recall 20 degree highs with wind and snow off of the lake. We used to wear panty hose and sweatshirts under our gear. ............The cold should have no effect this Friday on the hosses, but will be hard for guys that are in and out. I'll have on the huntin' gear. No problem. :thumb:

If the cold had no effect, then the companies who make those sideline heaters would be out of business. Anyone who has played and taken a good lick in 30 degree temps knows it hurts more than when it's 60 degrees. It also keeps your fingers and hands from being "as loose and nimble" to receive the ball etc.

I work outside every day.I can tell you when you do something physical you will forget about the weather and roll on.It's when you stop that it is a problem.Going in the locker room at half time might do more harm than good.If you go in, come out five minutes earlier than normal to warm up.

Coldest game ever has to be when Boyle County traveled to Pudacah Tilghman about 4-5 years ago. Anybody who was there knows what I'm talking about. Was there anyone who attended that game?

That 02 State Finals was awfully cold and it was in the middle of the day. That was pretty dang cold that game. I remember seeing all of the piles of snow piled up along the wall at old Cardinal Stadium from the big snow the 2 days before. Two other Corbin games I remember being very cold were during the 2000 season. Corbin vs. Larue County couldn't have been more than 20 degrees. The week prior when Corbin played Green County in Greensburg, the temps had to be in the low teens. That was the awfullest time ever was.

 

Looks like I'll be pulling out the coveralls again tomorrow after wearing them to UK vs. Vandy.

I dont think the cold will have an effect on the Highlands canon. Go Birds!

I can remember playing in some very cold weather in the early 2000's.

 

The first 4 or 5 hits are absolutely brutal but the adrenaline kicks in and you warm up quickly.

Hank it looks like me and you are in the same place quite a bit, that Vandy game was cold but not that bad! Tomorrow night in Corbin will be one cold night. It will be fun, bundle up!

Be sure to get the UK stink off them before bringing them to Campbell Field.

Playing in this type of weather is OK, the blood is flowing, but being a bench warmer is an oxymoron this time of year.

Don't worry, they are in the washer right now. I can't tell if it's the UK stink or spilled bourbon and milldew from them getting soaked last Saturday that's making them reek. They've been on my deck for dang near a week. They'll be Lilac fresh after being washed with this fine washer liquid.
