That was the coldest game I ever reffed. The toilets in the official's dressing room were frozen solid. Thankfully, the livestock stalls were nearby and were nicer anyway. Can't say I miss the Fairgrounds.

 

A close second was the 2003 semifinal between E-town and Owensboro Catholic. A two-foot snow drift accumulated in my ear that night. Thank God for the hot burgoo from Moonlight Bar-B-Q!

There was something about that 2003 2A State Semi-Finals. Belfry played at Lloyd Memorial and I have never been that cold in my life. The bleachers became a deathtrap with ice, and all the people who ahd previously planned to sit on blankets had to volunteer to stand, so the blanket could be used for the greater good as they were palced aloong the top of the bleachers to shield the cold gusting wind.

 

I remember getting to the hotel room and it was literally the next morning before I actually ever felt warm enough to remove any of my layers of clothing.

What I remember about the 2003 finals was that I wore the same amount of clothing to Papa John's as I did the week before for the Semi's. I can remember stripping down layer after layer of clothes during the game because is wasn't really that cold compaired to the previous week. I had coveralls, sweatshirts, Gloves thrown under the seats and dreaded hauling it back to the car after the game.

I don't think it even snowed up here.

 

Most of the snow in Corbin is gone, still have patches where the sun doesn't hit. Around 30 degrees, cloudy with patches of blue and a cold breeze.

Boy, I just can't wait to be sitting in the press box tonight at Campbell Field.

Temperature dropped to around 20 during the game. Ice and snow was all over the stadium. Being in the shade and the beating that Breathitt gave us made it seem even colder.

That game against Breathitt was the coldest game I've ever covered. The sidelines had ice every where and bunches of snow. The turf was in horrible shape and the stadium reminded of an old, old, old, old, dungeon. It was the worst place I've ever covered a football game at.

I think it could have an effect on kid who only plays one way, a running back who gets warm and then has to sit for several minutes while the defense is on the field could have some troubles, getting loose then getting tight sitting there, hamstriings come to mind. Might be a good time to be going both ways this week????

 

I guess our 12-14 players for Gallatin County will stay plenty warm! Should be a tough game in Frankfort, but as last week shows us...any given night!

I think it will affect the fans and cheerleaders more than players and coaches.

I have lived in Kentucky for two years and since I rarely go anywhere, I never had to worry about gloves.

 

Going to the Mason Co game tonight, I went out to walmart today and picked up some gloves. :lol:

 

Going to be a fun time with the temperature in the teens. :thumb:
