From what I was told, Coach Cravens was asked to consider the job after 2 other people turned it down, including one of the asst. coaches. He had little game time help from his staff, as was noted from others on this thread. He wanted suggestions from his coaches during the game, but he got very little from what I saw.

Will the numbering system be utilized again this year at Campbell Co? It caused some controversy there last year.

It's all a money thing. Houchens Industries, the big money sponsor for the girl's tournament, is based in the Western Kentucky/Bowling Green part of the state. So, if they are going to put up the big money, they want the girl's tournament played at WKU. The KHSAA says " you got it" and it is played there. Title IX gets pushed aside. I think it would be great to have the girls play at Rupp and you may be surprised with the numbers they could draw there. Lexington is much more centrally located for most of the population centers in Kentucky

Dixie was probably out-coached down the stretch. Nell knows how to turn up the heat.

Anybody have any info about when this tournament will be played? It has been held at Dixe for years and has always been a great experience for JV teams to play in since they get very little fanfare over the course of the season.

I disagree. Track is just as big of a sport as any other. Taking a week off in the middle of the season is not good. You lose much of your conditioning. What would happen if a basketball or football team just took a week off in the middle of the season without touching a ball or practicing. They would come back rusty and not sharp. Track is the same way. Also, there are a lot of meets available through out the season with the KHSAA condensing the season.

Coach Schneider coached football for 81 year? That would make him a little over 100 years old wouldn't it? I imagine he would like to think he is not that old.

I find it interesting that the administration did not throw the job out there to see what interest they might get from other qualified coaches first. Nothing against their decision, if they think Coach Stoll is the one, but there might be other good choices out there to choose from.

Big thumbs up for Kevin Schwab at Dixie. Announcers should remain pretty neutral during the game, but some in NKY are very much homers. JMO.

Could the reason players leave the program be because they don't feel like they are being coached effectively? Over the last 6-7 years, this program has underachieved (except for 1 good season), despite having some pretty good players and one all-state player that could dominate a game at times. Could changes be needed in the near future to move this program forward, if there is some good talent in the pipeline?

I believe this was Holy Cross's 1st game and it showed. This was Campbell's 3rd game. Holy cross has a lot of good athletes and plenty of size. If this game were played later in the season, there may have been a different outcome. Robinson came off the bench to bale Campbell out in the 2nd half. During a 5-6 minute run in the 2nd half she could not be stopped

$.50/ hr or less is par for a high school coach in any sport if they run a good program.

I believe the girl's basketball program was also consistently strong under Coach Craven's 13 years at the helm. Good luck to the Camels. The game this Friday should be a good one.

Heard that the Dixie Boy's track team was recognized tonight for winning the regional meet last Spring for the first time since 1957 before the game. Nice job for the school to recognize their track team's success at their Homecoming game.

Where and what time are the games?

You have got to be kidding me! One year of assistant high school coaching was good enough to get a head coaching job at a major school. Yes, she was a very good player in both high school and college, but that does not necessarily make you a good coach. Dixie passed on getting an experienced, high quality coach with over 200 wins and multiple coach of the year honors. I hope the Dixie administration is not simply repeating the same mistake they did 3 years ago when they hired the previous coach. He was a nice guy, but had no experience at the high school level and really did not know how to run a program.

I thought the same thing. It's not like they tried to rush the floor or something. The players came over to the edge of the floor so that the kids in the stands could come down to celebrate, but security stood in between them and was pushing the Dixie kids back. They need to lighten up a little. Great venue for a game, but they acted like hosting it was an aggravation to them.

They had a chance to get a pretty good, verteran high school coach 3 years ago, but the administration chose Coach Elkus, who is a great guy, but was a career middle school coach, with limited high school experience. They did not want to hire anyone who might "rock the boat". There is some potential there, but it is not being pushed to improve.

Campbell's team is made up of a lot of good players, several of which could be the star of the game any given night. No one has the impressive stats to set them apart from their teammates which is what is usually looked at when choosing all-star teams. This certainly makes them hard to prepare for because any of them could be hot on a given night. Congratulations to Coach Cravens for putting together another solid contender for the regional title.

Is a possible coaching change on the horizon?

My understanding is that Boone's varsity was coming separately from the JV and Coach Fookes called and said that road conditions were bad and they could not get there. Campbell's varsity was there and ready to play.

The JV game was not a blow-out. I understand that it was a 5 or 6 point victory for Boone with Campbell down 2 with just over a minute to go in the game. I am sure Coach Cravens will try to reschedule the game if a date can be found that works for both teams.

I believe this is his 16th season.
