Now that the season is over for the Wildcats in Falmouth, just wondering what the thoughts are down there with the current coaching situation. Don't have a dog in the fight, but Coach Simms was pretty successful during his time there.

Pendleton County just didn't have the horses this year they've had in the past. IMO, the grumblings, if there really are any, are probably that Mason Monroe didn't make the regional tournament his senior year. He was a good player for the Cats and I know his senior season ended too soon for him, and others.

Coach Cravens was a boys basketball assistant or head coach from 1984-1997 at Lincoln County, Silver Grove, and Campbell County. He was the head girls basketball coach at Campbell County from 1997-2011. During this time he compiled a 216-167 record. He won 5 district championships, made 5 Regional Semifinals Appearances, and won one Regional Championship (2003) during his 14-year tenure at Campbell County.

Not sure who the horses are dd734 is referring to. The last I remember Pendleton County having any "horses" was the 04-05 and 05-06 seasons. Mason Monroe would be considered a horse but PC has had average to slightly above average talent since then that overachieved year in and year out with Coach Simms. I loved watching his teams overachieve and it was fun watching the last 3 years when they won 3 districts in a row.

A friend & I were discussing Pendleton County just a few days ago & he said something to me that made sense. He said that the run PC made the year they went to the Regional finals vs. GRC was very much an unexpected run & while enjoyable for the Wildcats faithful, it set a really high bar for a returning roster that wasn't comprised of the talent to win a Regional title. As FreeAgent said, Monroe was outstanding, but he was surrounded by average to slightly above average talent.

I'm not sure of the assistant coaches at Pendleton but with Ed Cravens just being there one year now, who would be stepping down?

I don't know the coaching staff specifically, but things I have been hearing would make one think they could step down. It could just be rumors swirling :idunno:
