Dixie's coaching staff had no answer for the Walton adjustment from Halftime?

The big question is will Kenton Co. pull the plug on Dixie playing if it starts to snow tomorrow afternoon.

Where these games being played?

At the state track meet, they charge $10 a head and gouge you on overpriced concessions and t-shirts, etc. They aren't loosing any money there and the place is packed to overflowing.

For years the JV Tournament was hosted by Dixie. Do they not host it there anymore? How is it played now? Dixie always did a nice job of hosting this tournament and giving some recognition to the JV girls who practice and play all season with no fanfare.

Coach Ed Cravens resigned from the girl's job mostly because of some parents constantly complaining. Coach Murray took over for him and I guess the parents just reloaded after giving Coach Murray a little honeymoon period of a year or 2.

Just stating what was said as one of the district goals in the past. Why would discussing how to get kids to a sporting event in truly inclement weather be a topic? They don't go. Reasonable safety for kids is always a must.

I know they do. I personally heard a former NKY superintendent of a major district state this in meetings. They wanted to make changes to better compete with private schools at attracting students as a major goal. Now this goal was not specifically about athletics, but education in general. Certainly using school activity cancellation policies as reason to change schools would be stupid, but a perception of perhaps a poorly run district might be reason.

But no common sense.

And public school administrators can't figure out why parents decide to send their kids to private schools where common sense continues to prevail. Public schools need to get a clue.

Like I said in another thread, Kenton Co. worries more about being sued than making reasonable decisions about weather issues. It is embarrassing to Kenton Co. when many other districts/privates schools make case by case decisions instead of a blanket decision for everything.

I would submit it is more about the school board being sued by somebody for this goofy rule. Certainly it makes since to cancel in some situations, but canceling everything even when the roads are mostly clear is dumb and creates unnecessary rescheduling problems for the teams and is sometimes an embarrassment.

I agree. This happened to Coach Murray's predecessor, Coach Cravens. Despite winning a regional and several district titles, certain Campbell Co. parents constantly complained until finally Coach Cravens just resigned, despite running a solid program for over a decade.

I thought ND looked very tentative on offense. Too much passing and nobody wanting to take a shot or drive to the basket. Also it was very hard for both teams to get into any flow with the whistles blowing every 5 seconds as others have stated.

If you are a good volleyball player with college potential, college coaches will find out about you whether you play club year round or not. It is unfair to the kid to brainwash them in to thinking that they have to play when they might enjoy playing other sports in high school as well.

My understanding is that lifetime passes go to retired educators that coached for a minimum of 20 years. So they deserve it for the pennies per hour they were paid to coach after teaching all day at school. I challenge the average person to do the job for that long.

Track regionals are electronically timed and are rated accurate to 1/1000 of a second. He did not qualify to the state meet where time for the 100 are routinely very low 11's and even high 10's. So he is not even in the top 50 speed wise around the state.

I saw the all-stars for baseball, softball, and tennis in the Kentucky Enquirer today, but their were no track all-stars. Anyone know why?

Amen. Could not have said it better. It is generally not the school coaches that are ruining youth sports, it is all the AAU and club stuff that is brainwashing parents and kids that they must participate or lose out, which is just not true.

Powell finished 8th at the Regional track meet last year with an 11.89 in the 100 m dash. Four of the guys that finished ahead of him are back this season for their teams so he has fair speed, but I would say he is not blazing.

Solid defense from Brossart? Not the game I saw. Brossart's man defense was poor. Pendleton's guards went by Brossart's guards to the basket all night for several lay-ups with no Brossart help defense. Their switch to a zone late in the game was good because Pendleton started looking for the 3 shot when they got down late and they went cold. Brossart needs to play better D against Montgomery and hope Futscher is back to cover the basket or it may not end well for the Stangs.

Congrats to Bailey Harrison from Dixie for winning the State Diving Championship.
