Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County

Featured Replies

Third year Campbell County head coach Michael Murray has stepped down as the head coach of the Campbell County Camels. He will be replaced by Assistant Coach Barrett Bradshaw. Bradshaw is the former boys head coach of the Dayton Greendevils, and longtime Campbell County assistant on both the boys and girls side.

Murray cited "family reasons" for his departure.

Very shocked by this. Hope everything is ok with Coach Murray and his family. Good luck to Bradshaw, great coach! I thought Murray was one of the best coaches Campbell County has ever had for girls basketball. Good Luck to Coach Murray in his future endeavors.

WOW. I echo Kings comments. We wish nothing but the best for Coach Murray. Did he coach last night against Conner??

No he did not.

I think there is more to this story than any of us know. If this is one player or a parent then this is a problem. I think someone said it best when they said that this is why Campbell County sports cannot excel consistently. They get good coaches and then allow a few people to run them off. Why do some parents have so much control over a school. Your money or your status within the community should not allow you to influence school decisions. To get the approval for one at the cost of so many is ridiculous.

Sorry to see Coach Murray step down. Seemed like a good coach and an even better person. I wish him the best.

Mike Murray is one of the finest men I've ever had the chance to meet.

Let me guess, coach left because of parents!

BINGO! That's the story I hear. Another one bites the dust at Campbell County because the parents can't keep out of it.

Also heard there is a petition going around and was being passed at the game tonight to get him back.

I'll sign it. Great guy.

If it is the parents (which is what I've heard as well, certain parents), then they should be ashamed by what they are doing to the girls. It is truly sad that this is happening out there. They have a stable of young talent and in my opinion, this couldn't have happened at a worse time for their program.

Met Coach Murry for the first time last night and I agree with everyone on here...a great guy and his heart and motives are in the right place. I could also tell he still cares about these girls tremendously. We didn't talk at all about his situation, but we did talk about the kids some (their skills, etc). That man cared about those girls! CC administration, you made a mistake!

Heard the ball players were wearing headbands with "Murray" on it. I'm assuming this was from last nights game, not sure.

So did he leave on his own or did the school dismiss him?

Yes they were. Refs made them turn them inside out because they have to be a solid color.
