Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County

If all that is true, and you want change, then someone is gonna have to name names. Seems like most "in the know" know who it is anyway.

And exactly how does 1 family control a public school for 25 years? I could see that happening at a private school where money is changing hands, but a public one?

I will say there is nothing on this earth that surprises me anymore when it comes the extremes parents will go to because they believe dear little precious isn't getting enough playing time.

I don't think he meant they have been "controlling" the school for 25 years...just that the family has been involved in the school for that plus some. I think he is saying that the ones that are now considered a part of the issue were students 25 years ago and I assume they are saying it was the same song and dance back then with their parents. And there have been others pass thru over the years. This family is large with a lot of roots and some are in the administration at the school. It is complicated and apparently the district has let it go on.

I had someone ask me today..."What happened to the days when playing time just wasn't discussed?" Where did all this sense of entitlement come from??? Drives me nuts!

That is the first thing every cchs or ccms coach says at the parent meeting...we have been through three girls and three sports...we will not discuss playing time....guess what? The parents with certain names that complain the most have the kids on the starting lineup....I have seen it hundreds of times regardless of talent. Sad.

This has to stop. If someone had this coach's contact info and can PM it to me - email or cell phone- I would like to talk with him.

Do we know who you are? Not trying to be rude, but if we had it, why would we send it to you?? What good can come from a discussion with you? Again, not trying to be a jerk, but I think someone would need incentive to share that kind of info.

If someone wants to help I think they should be treated better than that. Does it matter who they are if they are going to help? Could be an attorney, someone who has gone through a similar situation, newspaper reporter. The worst that can happen is Coach Murray talks to them and says thanks but no thanks. Why would you need incentive to share information with someone that can help? I think Coach Murray can make those decisions for himself without folks on BGP doing his screening.

Really? You would just throw out that information to just anyone?? I hope you're not naive enough to think that people will do anything to take you down. Is there a chance this guy could help? Yes. Is there the same chance (or more) that this guy would be using it to do more harm than help? Heck yes! If there is 1% chance it could be used negatively, I wouldn't do it! What if it's someone that would love to harrass Coach Murray even more. I would NEVER provide anyone's information without knowing who in the heck I was talking to. I really find it hard to believe in this day and age that anyone would provide information to someone on a message board without asking ANY questions? If you want to operate like that, have at it. But I think it's more important to protect the info than to see if someone that signs on to a message board has good intentions or not.

For the record, this appears to be a good person that wants to help and he has his info. So it's all good. And thanks to WXYZ for reaching out.

I think you missed my point. I wasn't advocating giving the information out. I was saying that a PM with those questions would have been a good route to go. It appeared to me as if you were looking for that person to say who they were and their motive in the message board.

Gotcha! That's fair.

So my boss comes to me and says if you don't resign I am going to force you out. If I have performed the duties of my job and done nothing wrong, I say to him, do what you feel you must do but I will not resign. This becomes even easier if I enjoy as much support as the coach in this scenario seems to have. Now the ball is in the boss' court, and if he has no legitimate cause he is about to make a mistake. Let him make it. I now have recourse for any wrong that may be done by his actions, both administrative and legal. I may air my grievances both publicly and privately, the other side only able to respond in legal proceedings.

Yet if I resign, I have lost all recourse. I had a job, and I left it by my own choice. I don't understand........ If I have a meeting with that boss and he says one word about playing time I have it recorded.... I am getting paid .... And I can still either get my job back or be employable in another district. I don't get this one.

I will say that is fair assessment of how a typical situation would have taken place. And I agree with what you said. However, I don't think this was a typical situation and is much more complicated. It's not my place to tell the story, but I can assure you that if you or I were put in the exact situation, your choice would have been the same at the time.

I agree with what you are saying but its easy to say that now after the fact. When you get blind sided by all this and put on the spot to resign or be fired, I gotta believe a lot went through his mind. Resign from coaching and he can still get a coaching job, get fired and very tough to find another coaching gig. I can promise you that where ever Coach Murray's next coaching job is at? They are getting one of the best in the buisness. His love for the kids, his passion for the game. His scouting reports are the best I've ever seen at this level. In fact they are so good several area coaches already have him scouting for them. Whoever hires him at his next coaching job will be getting a steal. :thumb:

I hated to hear about Coach Murray resigning & now hearing the potential reason why makes me furious!! These type of parents that insist they lay the road ahead for their kids are actually ruining their kids!! Every parent thinks their kid is best & not fun to watch your kid sit the bench, but to make a coach leave because he isn't playing your kid is psycho!!! Are these parents going to continue to tell coaches who they should play at the college level?? Have a college coach fired for not playing their kid??? Players "given" game time wind up never getting better because they feel they have nothing to improve while players that "earn" game time are hungry & up their game!! I'd love to see the CC team stage a revolt & refuse to play without Murray!! Can you imagine the problem parent's face if their precious kid couldn't play!!! Priceless!!!

The Superintendent at CC (Glen Miller) is highly regarded and it would surprise me if he allowed a coach to be forced out due to "playing time" (especially someone like Coach Murray who appears to have done a good job at CC and is well liked). There has to be more than "playing time" as the reason for his departure.

I don't know ANY people involved so I have no bias.

From the beginning this has seemed like there's more to it and why would a coach be forced to resign just because a parent complained about PT?

I completely understand why there would be questions about the "reasons". It doesn't make sense if you don't know the entire story. I won't put any details on here. Others can if they want.

He was given reasons...reasons that were part of a "witch hunt" that was initiated by a family that was not happy with playing time (with two different kids). No, he wasn't told he must resign because he didn't play the right kid or kid's from the right family. But it is absolutely the reason for the witch hunt.

By the way, this family has direct connections to the SI. They have also had influence (and have for a long time), at the CC schools. I was told a year ago this was coming and didn't think anything of it. Guess what, it happened. I find it hard to believe I heard a year ago this was coming if there wasn't suspicion that someone was trying to "get" him. To fans of the program, it was obvious and just a matter of time. As someone said, he wasn't let go from his teaching job. Chew on that for a minute. What could he have done as a coach that got him fired from coaching but not his teaching job? HMMMM!

It's a joke.
