Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County

Featured Replies

So did he leave on his own or did the school dismiss him?

My question too?

I saw some "Facebook Postings" that would lead me to believe he was forced out.

Anyone?

From my understanding, it was not his idea to leave. I don't know if anyone close to the program will say that, but I can tell you I have some good sources. And it's not Coach Murray either!

Ding ding ding.....and we have a winner. Forced to resign.

I think we could be looking at two different scenarios here. I believe the CCHS administration either forced him out because he wouldn't play who they wanted him to play or he resigned because he was not going to tolerate their dictatorship antics anymore. Either way no one wins except for the parent of the player that brought all of this on. The daughter of the parent doesn't win. She is probably ashamed about the situation and feels like an outcast by the rest of her teammates. I hope everything comes to light at some point and someone has the guts to say what actually happened. I hope someone gives up the name too. I have my sources but until its facts I will not say who it was.

So was all of this brewing before the one game he coached this season or did they base the whole season on the first game?

Very interesting. I think it was just a couple years ago a few senior boys didn't bother attending the team banquet because they felt the same type of pressure was put on the coach by the administration to play a familiar name.

Not sure if that's why these kids did not get the minutes they wanted, but they felt strongly enough about it to not show up for awards night.

Good question. I would like to know too.

I will give you all the short version. When a family wasn't happy about their daughters playing time last year and their status in the school was higher than most. They dug deep to twist things around and put it into the higher up hands. Coach Murray was forced/bullied into resigning by threatening to fire him. Really a sad situation. To do this to him, his family and these girls. SHAME ON ALL THAT HAD A CORRUPT HAND IN THIS. IT STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN. Pure horse :poop:

It's really kinda crazy. EVERYONE I talk to has this same story. It's sick that one family has this much control at a school this size. It appears that everyone, including Camel fans that do not have players on the team, feel that this is completely wrong, yet this family has been able to pull this off.

I hope they are happy with their actions. Appears they have completely destroyed this program for at least a year and probably more. From what I hear, they have also placed a lot of unneeded pressure on their own daughter by their actions. This is not the only sport that is cautious about this family. It doesn't help this situation, but carma is a bxxch! It will even out somewhere down the line. It's a shame and it makes the entire program look silly.

After watching the reaction of the girls when Coach Murray entered the gym a few nights ago, it is very easy to see that this is/was a direct result of a influential parent/family getting their way.

I guess I will have to ask the Administration of Campbell County.... "when will you put the kids first?" Is this not what schools are for??? To educate, develop, mentor and provide the children with life skills to enter the real world. It seems that Coach Murray has done all of the above and more and the reaction/support of his players speaks for itself!!

This sense of entitlement just because of employment position or public stature is the real issue as I see it. It is people such as this that can ruin a persons career for their own personal gain!!! Being a educator is not easy, but being a coach is even less easy. It is parents such as what have created this entire mess that make coaches say "is it really worth it?" I know of NO coach that does this for the money. People just don't get it!! These coaches spend tremendous amounts of time away from their families, and for what, to do something that most parents are afraid to do which is have the guts to coach themsleves, but always want to complain about the coach and it is usually always about, PLAYING TIME!!! I haven't seen a parent yet that feels their child should play less, but I see only a few parents with realization of their son/daughters ability. VERY FEW tell their child to work harder or you have to get better, most parents want to push all blame to the coach, when in all reality how much time does the parent take to work with their child to better them???

It is hard to look thru this thread and find many if any complaints about Coach Murray, I have only met him a few times and I can say that I would have NO PROBLEM of this person coaching/teaching a child of mine!!!

I will end with this last question: If what Coach Murray is supposed to have done was bad enough to have him lose his coaching position, then wouldn't that have also effected his teaching position?? I think it is very easy to see that this is Campbell County Administration politics hard at work again!!

Good luck to Coach Murray in his future and Best of luck to the Lady Camels, both deserve better!!

First off, I would like to say that I have met Coach Murray and think he is a great person and a dedicated coach. Campbell Co. was very lucky to have him!

Unfortunately, this scenario is played out over and over again wherever high school sports are played. It seems that all too often, even in the Northern Ky area, one or more good coaches get forced out with situations similar to this one. What is surprising about this particular situation is the fact that the good people on this board are bringing the truth to light. Too many times this has happened to coaches (which seriously affects their coaching/teaching careers) and no one speaks up. So I for one, am glad to hear the ugly truth come to light!

The coach that is coaching now is he just fillling in for the year?

I have no clue what's going on in this case so let me ask this.

Why quit during the season?

They forced him to resign. He was to resign on his terms or be fired on their terms and I can tell you with first hand knowledge that it was nothing more than a witch hunt because of playing time.

Oh. Ugly.

Can I ask what the offense would have been that warranted him being fired? The reason can't be because he didn't play a kid. What would CC have used as a reason?
