Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County

Featured Replies

It is strange. Not fit to coach the kids but still good enough to teach in the school. I agree something doesn't add up. I know Coach Murray and he is as good as they get. You won't find anybody to say anything negative about him because that is the type of person he is and he won't say anything because he loves the school and those kids. Sad.

The Superintendent was the person that intimidated Coach Murray to resign. It was a horrible decision!

For the last 20 plus years there has not been a superintendent that has stood up to parents at Campbell County.

The politics are rampant. The Board of Education members say they can't get involved in personnel decisions but they could get involved by working collaboratively with high school administrators, central office staff and coaches in making policy on protecting coaches from emotionally-charged, self serving parents. Hopefully this would stop the knee jerk decisions being made like the one against Coach Murray.

EVERY CCS coach is having to deal with disgruntled parents regarding playing time. It is an unnecessary distraction to each program that needs to stop!

Enough is enough !!!

Might sound harsh but this family should be run out town for what they have done. They are a black eye on C.C. athletics. The more support we all show for coach Murray, maybe we can put pressure on the family and the SI.

I don't see that happening. I don't have a clue what is going on at CC but I know, from experience, firing the coach is the easiest "solution" in administrator's eyes. Most coaches will not fight for a low paying job that often involves harassment and ridicule. They don't have the money to fight or the emotional energy and it is difficult to prove slander or defamation without legal action- which is expensive.

Administrators know this so they get rid of the coach, the squeaky wheel parent settles down, the other parents sit with their mouths shut and the new coach makes sure he plays the right people to avoid problems. The team learns that if mommy and daddy make enough noise, princess gets what she wants. In a few years, the same problems repeat themselves as families move on and new ones take their place but the school administration stays the same.

To coach in this day and age, you must assume you will not get administrative support and 1. Cut those players you see not getting much time so you have enough playing time for every member and 2. Treat your sport like a rec sport with little internal competition for playing time.

I have been coaching for 25+ years and this gets worse every year. The problem is not necessarily the parents it is the AD and administration for selling their chosen coaches up the river. Would you ever see a teacher getting treated like this?

Unfortunately at CCHS yes that has and will continue to happen to teachers. Sad but the teachers feel the same as the coaches feel as far as the backing from administration. Just ask any of them. You couldn't pay me enough now a days to be a coach or a teacher. Underpaid and :poop:rolls down hill, it never stays up top where it belongs.

What never ceases to amaze me is how powerful 1 loudmouth parent can rule what goes on the court while 20 other parents can sit back & essentially let it happen!!! This will never happen but could you imagine what a stink it would raise if those players supporting Murray simply walked off the court & turned in their CC uniform?? That high & mighty family would look pretty stupid since there would be no CC team for their princess to play on!!!!

The Superintendent at CC (Glen Miller) is highly regarded and it would surprise me if he allowed a coach to be forced out due to "playing time" (especially someone like Coach Murray who appears to have done a good job at CC and is well liked). There has to be more than "playing time" as the reason for his departure.

Whether you want to admit it or not he did force Coach Murray to resign because of parents twisting facts all brought about by the lack of playing time. They didn't run to the administration screaming lack of playing time. I will say of the 3 accusations last year and the one this year the only one that holds any water is the "transporting kids". The other 3 have been twisted because the accusing knew the rules and twisted them to their advantage to smear his name. The administration thought it would be easier to force him to resign than back him, because if he was that much of a threat to the kids why is he still teaching? I'll tell you why, because there's no truth there and he's not a threat. All I keep hearing is how it's about the safety of the kids, well then why are our kids not taking a bus to these sporting events? I understand the funding cuts but don't preach about its all about the safety of the kids and have them drive to every away game and use that rule against a coach who "transports kids" especially when it's an out of town tournament during weekdays when parents are at work. Trust me I would rather have my daughter ride with Coach Murray to a game than drive herself. Coach Mike Murray is as good of a guy as you'll find, his only downfall is when he came to CCHS he didn't know anybody and didn't play the political game. He cared, mentored, and played the best players that earned it and it cost him his job. Sad

Spot on!!!!

Is anyone ever going to tell us the family or families that created this mess?

EDIT.

This is a perfect example of why... Even though I can watch a cchs football game from my back deck, I choose to drive 15 miles twice a day, and sometimes four times when there is practice, to Ft Thomas and pay the tuition. Our daughter is a 4.0 student and an athlete and after seeing the athletic program demise with my son at cchs, there was little chance I was going to put her through the same political crap he went through. Other than Mike Bankemper, who is a great coach and mentor, the other coaches receive little to no support from the administration.

the same person that is doing this done the same thing in knothole he didn't make any headway so he started coaching himself,in my opinon his off springs were never that good.and he did not have a good attiud toward the other coaches, until the schoolboard and ad this will keep going on until they get it right

I think the above comment says all we need to know.

All of NKY has been hearing about this :poop: going on at Campbell Co. for years, yet the "powers that be" seem to be oblivious to what the hell is really going on. Unbelievable Andy Mac!!!

Word is the Camels ayers will be donning warmup shirts in support of Coach Murray.

This story is a prime example of how little power high school ADs have.

Word is AD never had a set when it came to backing up Murray any other time!
