If there was more to it, the school would have a lot of explaining to do to the parents for their reasoning of still allowing him to teach.

So I'm suppose to put my kids necks on the chopping block and lead a brigade through the media to give CCHS a black eye and get the decision making people fired? Not my style. Look, CCHS education has been improving tremendously with the recent success in the classroom and the sports has had a lot of success in recent years but this whole thing was handled very badly. I just want the teachers and coaches to be able to do their jobs without repercussions because parents think they and their kids are owed something. I bleed purple and gold and have supported teachers, coaches, administrators and all the kids for many years. During those years I have NOT agreed with everything they have done but I don't complain and stir up a hornets nest or call for people's jobs over it. It's a life's learning lesson for the kids. When they get in the real world they are not going to like every boss they work for, they are going to have to adapt and overcome adversity because mommy and daddy is not always going to be there to bail them out. I'm not looking to get anyone fired, I just want policies changed to protect the very people that teach these kids valuable life lessons and to assure that this type of witch hunt doesn't happen again. I want to be apart of the solution, not bring more turmoil into it and if you think going to the media is the only answer then CCHS is worse shape than I thought.

Well, I am sure there is some attorney out there who would love to handle this. Next if Murray did nothing, he needs to fight. Finally if the parents feel that he was wrong, they need to get something done. Sounds like it was all swept under the carpet after it happen with the Board of Education and Coach Murray. What does Coach Murray want? Does he want he job back? Is he in jeopardy of losing his teaching job? If nothing was done on his teaching job, what does he have to lose to fight back?

Nor for fear of bringing up anything negative about Murray but it's those like myself that simply want other adults to own up to their responsibilities of the problem and do what is RIGHT instead of what is wanted. IMO Parents are the reason that our kids feel entitled for this and that and more playing time etc. If little Sally or Johnny want it and Mommy and Daddy have always given it then what makes taking a person's job away any different in their eyes. The political ways in our school system saddens me. It's both a shame for our kids to go through this on both sides. The ones that caused this mess are teaching some "real values" and the ones that were innocent are learning early on how a title and relationships can get you what you want. It's a shame a real shame. Call me old school but I am a firm believer in you have to work for what you want and when the outcome isn't what you wanted at the end, you don't take something away from someone you ask what you need to do in order to get what you want. Then work on that.

If Coach Murray did nothing wrong, what negative issue would be brought up? Take it to the media, if he has you support and he wants it, do him a favor and fight back. You are not going to change any policies with the Administration and they are not going to listen as you found out after they had him step down. I can't speak on behalf of coach Murray, but I wouldn't want my job back if I was in his shoes because of the trust factor. He is fighting this and maybe he is following the advice of a lawyer on what to do and what not to do, that's a guess because I have no clue on that. What I do have a clue on is how this all came about. I've seen some disturbing behavior from parents since all this went down and it needs to stop. These girls have been thru an emotional roller coaster and its not fair to them. Now we have girls not wanting to play next year and younger girls wanting to transfer. I want a solution so this doesn't happen again and the program prospers. A great leaders courage comes from passion not position!

So the million dollar question is, what does Coach Murray want to do?? I feel bad for him and the girls. They definately didn't deserve this. I saw earlier in the thread that he may be doing some advance scouting, but has anyone talked to him about it??

The thing is, you do not have to have a good reason to fire a coach. A principal can just say "I want to fire him." It is more difficult to fire a teacher. Especially a tenured one. It is possible that more paperwork has to be done in order for him to be removed from the classroom. The problem is that CCHS Administrators are annually making controversial decisions for that past seven or eight years. So even if they do have a legitimate case against Coach Murray, the general public will assume that they're up to their same old dirty tricks.

Thanks Munoz. The girls, the parents and I would even say Mike has accepted the fact that he won't coach at CCHS again. Mike will be fine and land on his feet at another school. My concern now is for the kids. So we hire a new coach and a parent is unhappy over something? Same policies same results! Lets fix it so the next coach and kids have a fighting chance. Regardless of the mistakes made lets learn from this make sure it doesn't happen to a coach, teacher or administrator. These are the ones teaching and molding our kids, let them do it without having their hands tied behind their back.

Yes this stuff happens everywhere & in every sport but it seems to me this is a big part of CCHS legacy & that is sad!! It continues to happen because administration sides with the parents & not their employees!! Just sweeping it under the rug or ignoring it & moving on guarantees it will happen again & again & again!!! How many would fire a teacher because their kid didn't get an A in the class?? I'd make my kid study more & earn that A!! Same thing can be said for sports!! Not happy with playing time, then work harder in practice & earn playing time!!

Same type of parent behavior is happening to coach Bradshaw. The volleyball program has had 4 different coaches in the last 6-8 years. 2 outstanding coaches in Tony Pfeffer and Leah Ballinger didn't reapply because of the parents and went else where. Melissa Johnson didn't get rehired because of parents. One thing I believe needs to happen is WE as parents sign a contract before every sports season to conduct ourselves properly and obey the 24 hour rule and all rules outlined in the parents contract. If parents break these rules, then they should be banned from attending the sporting events. Hold parents accountable for their misconduct. If we are going to hold coaches and players to a high standard then lets do the same for the parents. There's a sign above the door to the locker room in the gym that reads something to the effect that no one but players, coaches, officials and school administrators allowed beyond this point. We can't have angry parents after a game going pass 3 school administrators, crossing the sign that clearly states not to, voiding the contract that they signed and knocking on the coaches door to get their point across to the coaches of why they are so angry. Not the time or place for that type of behavior. Sleep on it, wait 24 hours and when you wake up the next day if you still feel the same way then request a meeting and go through the proper chain of command to set up that meeting. If they can't do that then someone needs to ban them from a certain number of games. If it happens again they are done for the year. IMO that would be a start to correcting a lot of the problem. I don't agree with every move or decision every coach makes but I'm not going to vent my frustrations to them after an emotional game because its real easy to sit and coach from the stands. I'm not at the practices or putting in all the hours of game preparation. Let the coaches coach and the parents cheer. When the inmates start running the asylum it's a recipe for disaster and the downfall of a program. So to answer your question we need to hold parents accountable and to the same standard we are holding the players, coaches and teachers to. I don't think that's beating a dead horse and I think that's something that can and needs to change. It's really a pretty simple fix if you think about it.:thumb:

Coach Ed Cravens resigned from the girl's job mostly because of some parents constantly complaining. Coach Murray took over for him and I guess the parents just reloaded after giving Coach Murray a little honeymoon period of a year or 2.

I would love to take on this challenge and deal with "pushy" parents, I'd have no problem putting them in their place if I had to. However, I was a terrible grade school girls coach and I bleed "Blue and Gold". :lol2:
