Congrats!!: Ally Niece Freshman of Simon Kenton reaches 1000 point club
Oh, was it SK's points or Ally's? Let's Celebrate the accomplishment of a student/athlete hitting a 1000th High School point no matter where she played. I loved how she included her Dad in her Celebration. She's a wonderful kid and has a great supportive family.

How many Coaches?
Wow! So, when I read 22 I thought man that's a lot! But after I sat down and thought about all the GREAT talented folks that have been involved with the helping my daughter from elementary, upward, AAU and training to become the skilled player she is I kept on counting and counting. Our number ended with 32. This was a fun activity to do and made me very thankful for all their time and effort. So, I am very thankful for all the time that they put into helping my daughter chase her dream and make her the player she is today. I hope that number keeps on climbing b/c everyone has something to offer and sometimes it's the same thing that is taught but someone might say it a different way that makes it click. I wanted to stop at 22 b/c you are right 22 is a HERO and we have so much to learn from Lauren and her family. What a blessing and a REAL ROLE MODEL for our kids to look up to.

Should high schools build up their numbers at the expense of the middle schools?
I am really confused as I think most are about the rule in BOONE COUNTY. I know for a fact last year Asyah Mitchell started on Coopers Freshman team and then moved to JV after about 4 games or so. Why was that allowed? Or did Cooper learn quickly that she couldn't play Freshman, hence the change early on in the season?

9th Region Top bench players to watch
It states students entering grade 9. So it falls back on the must be a legit high schooler. So, once a student becomes a Freshman they can only letter 4 years. But the reality is with the NEW MS rules in effect that only 7th and 8th can now play at Varsity level kids can play at Varsity level 6 yrs. Which goes back to my question of I don't think coaches are moving MS kids up to keep them on their HS roster for fear of them leaving b/c they can go anywhere they want without penalty up until they are a legitimate high schooler walking the halls as a freshman. At least that is my understanding. Now, if parents are pulling the card of move my daughter up or I will move her to another school then that's a completely different story and coaches should say ADIOS to those type of Player/Parent combos. B/c they will cause nothing but trouble in years to come not only for the coach but the rest of the team and parents. Not saying anyone is doing that, just making a statement.

I am not so sure that statement is 100% accurate. Kids are not considered High Schoolers until they walk the halls on their 1st day as a Freshman at the school they are enrolled in. So, even if schools move players up from the middle school that student could still choose whatever high school they wanted even if they have played varsity minutes. I really think the rule doesn't hold barrings until the student/athlete walks the halls as a freshman. So until that day they are free to change to any high school they want. Now, if they have a Freshman player that has sat the bench most of the season and they play them only a few minutes at the varsity level then that player is trapped and unable to change schools without sitting out a year. But I don't think that's the case for middle schoolers. Coaches are smart they know what they are doing. Again, I'm not certain b/c I know some rules changed for middle schoolers but I thought those rules were for age restrictions on playing at MS level and for playing up but I could be totally wrong.

9th Region Top bench players to watch
Interesting comment and I'm not certain but I thought it didn't matter where the child plays as a middle school student, even if they play up, that until they actually being attending the high school of choice as a 9th grader they are free to choose any school they wish for their "true" high school playing time. I mean as long as it's within the schools district or they could attend a private school. So, if Boone Co schools are moving players up in order to keep the parents/coaches happy and involved in their own program then shame on them. I really hope that is a rumor and that Boone Co schools/coaches/parents are not playing that game. I knew that someone would bring up challenging them academically v/s athletically and as a parent of two Gifted and Talented kids I want them to be challenged in all areas of their lives. I leave it up to the experts to teach and to coach. I have the utmost respect for both b/c dealing with us CRAZY parents is more of a chore than helping develop the kids to reach and surpass their own goals. Communication is key, as with anything in life. So, with that said if parents feel that their kids are ready to play up but the coach might not then make a plan to work with your child and the coach to get them to there. Empower your child to do the work and communicate with the coach. The coach doesn't need to speak to us as parents, they need the athlete to be able to communicate their goals and what they can offer the team. One of Life's biggest lessons is to fall down and fail. It's how you pick yourself up and become better or just throw your hands up and point your finger and play the blame game. The kids and parents can choose which route to take. Just b/c you have worked hard and you feel you deserve something doesn't mean someone else feels the same. You don't just get b/c you want. You get b/c it was earned. It hurts our feelings when we try out for something and don't make it and feel we deserved it. We live in a world these days where if our kids want something we as parents feel pressured to ensure they get it. Well, sometimes the lesson comes back to not only the child but the parents as well. OK I'm off my soapbox now.

I have thought the same thing about wanting better coaching at the middle school level but here's a thought showing the downside of that. If a parent pushes a child to try out or play at the HS level due to poor coaching at the MS level they aren't going to be happy. A child will get more rigorous training during practices at HS level but the truth is we all want to see our child on the floor in live game mode. I would much rather have my child "suffer" through middle school ball and provide them with ball training and speed/agility outside of school practices and see them play full games at that level, rather than sit the bench at a higher level. Sitting the bench is no fun for anyone, the parents, the coach and especially the kid. The kid begins to doubt their own ability and it has nothing to do with that it has to do with kids that are older and more experienced. Just my opinion.

Conner vs Ryle - Still On For Tonight
Could someone clarify this for me. I know that the 33rd district teams agreed to play each other twice in regular season but I was told during a game, by some parents, that for seeding purposes for Tourney time they were only looking at the 1st round of games. Is that true? If so we know who will be playing against each other already.

Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County
Is the media the answer? If so, I would gladly contact them BUT I don't think the media is the answer. Nor for fear of bringing up anything negative about Murray but it's those like myself that simply want other adults to own up to their responsibilities of the problem and do what is RIGHT instead of what is wanted. IMO Parents are the reason that our kids feel entitled for this and that and more playing time etc. If little Sally or Johnny want it and Mommy and Daddy have always given it then what makes taking a person's job away any different in their eyes. The political ways in our school system saddens me. It's both a shame for our kids to go through this on both sides. The ones that caused this mess are teaching some "real values" and the ones that were innocent are learning early on how a title and relationships can get you what you want. It's a shame a real shame. Call me old school but I am a firm believer in you have to work for what you want and when the outcome isn't what you wanted at the end, you don't take something away from someone you ask what you need to do in order to get what you want. Then work on that. And for everyone saying that we are bashing Campbell County I think it's simply that with Coach Murray he had more support than those who thought they had control realized. And we will not sit quietly and let this die down bc it's the only thing we can do or so it seems. Well idk maybe an undercover boss episode might be in order. Just saying

Murray Out, Bradshaw In At Campbell County
Very well said! Thank you for all your comments throughout this post. We need folks to stand behind not only Coach Murray, but behind what is righteous so this doesn't happen again in the future. And by tucking our tails and not talking about it is NOT the way to ensure it doesn't happen again. Heart Coach Murray and if I could I would buy one of those shirts the girl wore. It's a darn shame that such bull:poop: happened to begin with. The least we can do to show our support and backing, is keep this post going. I think someone stated that was the goal back in Oct when this all happened. It's great that we are standing behind each other, just wish we could do more to ensure such things that they put Coach Murray and his amazing family through NEVER happens to anyone else in that county. I don't have the answers as to how to fix it but I would support and do whatever I could, should someone have ideas as to what outsiders can do.
