Highlands @ Boone County

Who wins and why? Oh wait, nevermind. The game has already been cancelled for tomorrow night and it has not even done anything outside yet. Bad week for the Birds to have all of the county teams on the schedule as they had the entire week cancelled and will have not played for 10 days when they go up on the hill Tuesday night to play the Breds. This now makes 5 games that have been cancelled, with one made up, a second rescheduled and the remaining 3 who knows.

A bet you a dollar to a donut that by 4:00 tomorrow all main roads between Ft.Thomas and Florence will be clear. UNBELIEVABLE! !

The season that never was.....remates by football....stalled in Jan by weather.

What does this mean?

You called it

You called it

Sun has been out since before noon and the roads are clear for as long as the eye can see, yet another game goes by the wayside due to a lack of common sense/wait and see.:no::banghead:

A game that will not even be made up. That has also already been decided.:ohbrother:

I guess I'll go check out that Weyer boy at the All A Finals.

And public school administrators can't figure out why parents decide to send their kids to private schools where common sense continues to prevail. Public schools need to get a clue.

1. This is far from a private vs. public school issue. There are many sites to share political agendas, this is typically not one.

2. If parents are simply sending their kids to private schools just so they can play basketball games in the snow (which, I don't believe they are) they, in fact, need to get a clue.

3. Many public schools (and, some private) use school district bus transportation to transport entire teams, 20-30 human lives, to basketball events. If one of those buses is in an accident on a side street that hasn't been cleared, or hits a sheets of ice or blowing snow and just one of the 20-30 people get hurt, then your saying public schools need to "get a clue," because someone got hurt. Lose/lose situation.

Now, as much as I want to see all the games, as I have missed a few myself, I can certainly understand the rationale. One would think you could too....

I didn't know public school administrators even gave thought to something like this?

I agree. In fact, most of the public schools are overflowing with students as is... The question that should be asked is, why aren't more kids going to these great private schools that allow you to play basketball games in the snow? And, who should be asking that question is... Private school administrators.

Agree with 1 & 2. But you can't tell me the roads in Florence were not driveable tonight. This game should not have been canceled on Friday. They should have waited till this afternoon to make that call, thus lacking common sense.

I doubt they do either, but they could use a dose of "common sense" . :lol2:

I think Kysportster was being a little facetious, but would agree with the bolded, thus the reason I gave a "like".

I know they do. I personally heard a former NKY superintendent of a major district state this in meetings. They wanted to make changes to better compete with private schools at attracting students as a major goal. Now this goal was not specifically about athletics, but education in general. Certainly using school activity cancellation policies as reason to change schools would be stupid, but a perception of perhaps a poorly run district might be reason.

Why would public school administrators adjust anything to attract more students? They're funding is already determined and the more students they get, the more students they have to educate with the same amount of funding.
