I know they do. I personally heard a former NKY superintendent of a major district state this in meetings. They wanted to make changes to better compete with private schools at attracting students as a major goal. Now this goal was not specifically about athletics, but education in general. Certainly using school activity cancellation policies as reason to change schools would be stupid, but a perception of perhaps a poorly run district might be reason.

 

This is a joke, right?

I work in a large, major school district, and am in meetings with a lot of the school "officials" and have never heard anything of the sort. We are, first and foremost, worrying about the kids we do have. Looking for ways to get them textbooks, computers, supplies, classroom space, and that's not to mention the individualized, high level education they need.

 

I must, however, admit that finding a way to get kids to sporting events in inclement weather has not been a topic of conversation. We believe in keeping kids safe at all costs.

Just stating what was said as one of the district goals in the past. Why would discussing how to get kids to a sporting event in truly inclement weather be a topic? They don't go. Reasonable safety for kids is always a must.

That would be affirmative. Unfortunate that you schedule 3 county schools during the same week of the season. They have actually had 5 games cancelled because of the weather this year. The Bracken County game was made up the next night and the Ryle and Campbell County games have been rescheduled. Not sure what is going on with Pendleton County and Boone County games. They also lost a game when Villa backed out earlier this year. Perhaps they can pick up some games against teams that are also looking for games.
