One of the best halftime adjustments I've ever seen by a coaching staff. Great strategy and great job convincing the girls they could come back. Kudos to coach Clinkenbeard and Coach Trame.

Crazy game for sure. I don't remember the last time I saw a comeback like that in a girls game.

The first half was all Dixie. The Colonels shot over 70% from the field. The nets were smoking. Some of that was certainly Tibbs from point blank, but that was not all of it. Most of what Dixie put up from the perimeter was hitting also. With good ball movement, good shot selection, they could not miss. The first half for Walton was miserable. They got a slow start and just couldn't get anything going. They were out of sync, and shots were not falling. All of that equaled a 17 point Dixie lead.

Perhaps the greatest highlight of this game happened at halftime in the locker room. Incredible job by Coach Clinkenbeard, Coach Trame and staff. The adjustments that they made, were flat out impressive.

The Bearcats come out of halftime to hold Tibbs to 4 second half points and the rest of the team to just 19. Walton's offense started rolling against Dixie's zone in the half court and they started getting points in transition. They erase the 17 point deficit and with a pair of free throws from Ison, they take their first lead of the game, 53-52 about midway through the fourth. The Bearcats hold on to get the win certainly much to the credit of shooting 90% from the foul line.

Congrats to the Bearcats on the great comeback effort and to the Coaching staff for the great job on the adjustments.

What was the strategy and what adjustments were made? 2 of the very best in the business on the same bench.

They certainly proved that last night. Clinkenbeard can coach for sure, and having Trame in the mix, with all his experience, makes it all the better. The Bearcat girls are getting some great instruction. They have now won 9 of the last 12 games and are 10-5 since Jan 1, after a very rough December.

Some of that December had to do with Ison being out, right?

Some yes, but also, other injuries. DeZarn - broken wrist, Mullikin - broken nose in early December then just before Ison came back, they lost Luebbe and Beckham in back to back games in late December. All of these are very important parts and were definitely missed. The coaches and players have done a great job overcoming these losses.

I really thought this was going to be a very, very, long year for WV, but my hat is off to the players, Coach Clink & Coach Dbird for a pretty darn remarkable year so far.

Great come back! But 31 free throws and 18 in the 4th. Sounds like they had a little help.

I was at the ND NCC game, but that many free throws usually means the other team was fouling a lot!

Help? They didn't get any "help". The coaches went to a dribble drive offense that Dixie could not defend without fouling. Strong and Tibbs both got isolated and couldn't defend their girls off of the dribble and ultimately ended up fouling out. Give credit where credit is due, to the bearcat coaches for this and other adjustments, and to the WV players for executing it, hitting their free throws, and having the heart to come back.

Dribble drive offense getting the ball to whoever was being defended by Tibbs or Strong and taking them to the hole or shooting outside if they sagged, and a defensive adjustment similar to a 3-2 but with the two in back sandwiching Tibbs so she couldn't get the ball and pressuring the perimeter passers so they were too flustered to pass inside on the rare occasions when Tibbs did get open.

And most of all convincing their players they could do something spectacular in the second half if they all did their jobs.
