I think Scott is a very young team, there still adjusting to Life after Tibbs . They need someone to step up and become the leader of this team. Scott is putting in a new style O and its gonna have some growing pains. And on the D side, they gotta want it !! You play hard all the time and if ya get tired. Tap out and let the next girl get with it . This TEAM has talent , use it !!!

No real point guard, not enough players that can handle the well enough to break a press, and not athletic enough themselves to defend against the better teams. Aside from Stinson , I don't know that they have another player that would start for most of the teams in Northern Ky. The two next best players are a freshman and a Sophomore ( Trimpe and Buntin). Too many girls leave this program...what other big school has 6th graders playing to fill out the freshman and JV roster. They have 4 freshman on the roster that as a group only won a handful of games as 8th graders. Until they start developing talent, especially at the guard position, they will continue to struggle.

Yes, I agree there should not be 6th graders filling out a Freshman/JV team. That's pretty sad, in my opinion. Actually its very sad that a school of Scott's size has to bring up 6th graders. I have not seen Buntin's name in the stats. Is she injured?

Kaitlyn Seeney, led the JV team in minutes, got 1 start last year, more of a defensive specialist....wouldn't have been a starter, but would have seen time.

Why are the girls leaving the program? When my daughter played it was the same way. She, however, played 4 years, and I know if you asked her now if she regretted it, and focused solely on the other sport that she played, she would tell you no. She made great friendships playing basketball, and even though they never had a winning record, she truly enjoyed playing. And I think its great that they have a lot of young girls, but how many of those girls will stick with it, and also how many will attend Scott next year. Since Kenton County has open enrollment, any one of the middle school girls can chose which school they would like to attend. Plus you also have Holy Cross, and Notre Dame to chose from as well. As a fan, I hope they all go to Scott, but realistically, that may not be the case.

Girls leaving has been an ongoing issue, and why you can't base future success on middle school success. Last years seniors won everything as middle schoolers. And ultimately only two even contributed as seniors..Tibbs and Jackson....most left the program. And if you take Tibbs off that team, they maybe win 3 games. What I do know is they haven't had a decent point point guard since Kelsey Bamforth, and she transferred from Calvary, and they don't have anything close to a point guard on the roster. Teams that press will are going to give them fits, as has already been seen. It's going to be tough to win when your consistently scoring less than 40 points a game. And the bigger issue is I haven't seen the hustle or desire...couple that with lack of talent and you have a 1-7 record to start the year.

I think you are touching a little on the issue. While one of the girls (6th grade)is talented, in no way should they be on the high school team. Not physically, mentally or emotionally ready. I really question Scotts coaches, administration and parents for why this was even allowed. While I have no problem with kids playing up, I think there should be some restraint when kids aren't emotionally ready. Think about it, a 12 year old girl hanging around 17 and 18 year old girls. I've heard from a number of kids that this was not widely appreciated and some girls have even questioned when there was an open tryout to compete for a high school roster. I'm concerned that a very vocal parent pushed his wishes on a coach with little regard what it means to their child or program as a whole. Seems that you have given up a whole lot for.....I dunno.... just doesn't feel right. This is just one mans opinion from a far.

Could the reason players leave the program be because they don't feel like they are being coached effectively? Over the last 6-7 years, this program has underachieved (except for 1 good season), despite having some pretty good players and one all-state player that could dominate a game at times. Could changes be needed in the near future to move this program forward, if there is some good talent in the pipeline?
