  1. Our boosters essentially paid an extra stipend (1 more than the district allotted) for one of our coaches this season. They were red book compliant. I don't know what the did/how they worded it, but it happened. And trust me, our district or school will not be "in compliance."
  2. It's not illegal to do in Kentucky. The boosters just have to give the money to the school and then the school gives it to the coach. It can be done.
  3. The coaches get the stipends. The problem is, most haven't changed over the last 20 or 30 years.
  4. Is that one of those statements that you tell yourself, "If I say it enough, one day it will be true!"
  5. I think the Vanderbilt stuff was false. It was just Wake Forest.
  6. Cobb was a 2 star because he was small, not because he was slow. He ran a 10.75 100 as a junior in high school. You can be small and fast and make it. You can't be small and slow at a skill position. Lineman and Qb's those times don't matter. But if you want to be a RB, WR, C, or Safety they are huge. 1 bad time might kill you if you don't have another time, either at the camp of a college recruiting you or another laser time, that can change people's mind.
  7. If a coach sits in a recruiting meeting and says, "I have this great running back. By the way, he runs a five flat 40." he will lose all credibility and be fired. He's a great high school player but that time makes me question his ability at the running back position for the next level.
  8. It means a ton to college scouts. I fear that time may have ended any hopes Mr. Powell had of a decent college offer.
  9. Laser times are accurate. It cuts out all the non-sense of saying kids run a 4.4 or 4.5. We're lucky to have many kids in NKY that run better than a 4.6.
  10. Not at all. And I can do without the condesending attitude. People pay taxes so they should have the right to participate in extra curricular activities if they chose to home school their kids. Private school is completely different. Now if they want to pay full tuition to send their kid to a private school for sports and still home school their kids, I'm fine with that. But I don't think home school kids should be able to play sports at a private school without paying full tuition.
  11. Definitely. The argument was being made that a kid could attend one private school and play sports at another if the original private school did not offer that sport. It was also said that a kid could be home schooled and play sports at a private school. I would strongly disagree with those two scenarios. As Long as the sport is being played at a public school, I have no problem with that.
  12. We're not talking about private schools are we? I was under the impression that the only option was a public school. I was also under the impression that we were talking about only home schooled students and not private schools with no football team.
  13. Why? They are still paying taxes that fund those schools? Why should chosing to educate their kids at home prevent them from access to extra curricular activities they are helping to fund anyway?
  14. How can you do away with PE? PE is a requirement to graduate. How can the school justify that?
  15. I agree. 5-5 and they better hope they can stay healthy or it could be worse depending on the order of the games.
  16. I didn't say it would be. I said all his moves up to this point had been.
  17. I don't think Craig ever coached at Danville. Also, almost all of his moves have been of the career advancement variety. There is certainly no harm in that.
  18. 7-3 and losing in the 3rd every year. What's wrong with that?
  19. I really like this kid and have seen him play in person a few times, but that is a horrible highlight tape. The best plays aren't in the front. A lot of 2-3 yard completions and scrambles for minimal gains (I had to stop watching after the first 2-3 minutes). I hope this wasn't put together by a coach at SK or that this is the film being sent out on this kid because it's a great disservice to him and his abilities if it is.
  20. No offense, but if that kid runs a 4.54 I run a 4.2. It's crazy the 40 times that people post. This kid is probably in the high 4.7's or low 4.8's.
  21. Taylor County will be terrible again. Campbellsville will lose to the only teams on their schedule that end up with a winning record, Danville and Glasgow. They will get to the 3rd round and get blown out by Russellville. They aren't ready for the big time.
  22. He gets no credit. He's coaching an all star team. He walked into the best prospect in the state and brought two kids from Louisville with him. If he won the region with local kids, great. But he's not. He created an AAU team that anyone with just basic basketball knowledge could have led to a region title.
