From what I heard about kids skipping practice and still on the team, the team not being all in its going to be a tough road. If the new HC (when they find one) is not a leader, and inspirational, they need to have someone on staff who can be. They need tough, caring, leadership. The kids must buy in. I'd play with whomever gives me 100% and shows up. Cut the negative elements out of your program. Make being a Rebel special again. W and l' s will take care of themselves eventually. Pride and respect must be restored.

I think if they find a coach that has a respectable resume and experience,,, it will go a long way to restore belief in the program.

If the Principal won't allow, actually if the Principal won't demand, that the new coach get rid of all the bad apples the program will stay in the tank with no hope of recovering.

It should be considered a privilege to play. Wearing the uniform has to come with standards of excellence academically, socially, and tough team responsibilities.

My understanding is that they are in the interview process. There are a lot of good kids on this team. I hope they do push out the bad apples and give these boys something to work for. I know plenty of boys who are there giving 110% hoping to get noticed and coached.

From what I understand from close sources, no qualified former or current head coaches that have ties to the program have even been contacted or applied. Several cracks in the infrastructure took it down. They need to go after a former player like Smitty or Warner. Gotta restore the pride and discipline.

Warner had a good run at Ryle before the two bad years that led to his leaving. I would love to see him get another shot if he wants it. Principle on-board or not, he will not play kids who don't show up everyday and give 110%. His toughness might be what Boone needs.
