Former T Coach Moving To IMG

Featured Replies

Former Trinity Coach Kevin Wright is leaving Carmel (IN) to become the head coach at IMG Academy in Florida.

Wow! Happy his family is ready to leave Indiana.

Checkout their schedule below! This is basically going to be a traveling AAU type football team playing the best they can get on the schedule... The question is will they be able to get enough elite players to move down to Florida? And maybe they won't have to.... obviously Florida is stocked with talent, I'm definitely going to be following this program, just curious how it's all going to develop. Congrats Coach Wright! Super guy.

My buddy's nephew moved down from Ohio to play there next season.

If you get a chance, check out the 5 star roster.

Will do, thx! You know with the Wright/Trinity connection we definitely will have the opportunity to play them.... Who knows, might be in the works already!

FYI Florida currently has legislation in the works to make it illegal to restrict any student at any school (public or private or even home) from playing at any school he/she chooses, and if I read the proposal correctly they don't even have to attend the school they play for. I'll Google and see if I can find a link.

UPDATE: the proposal would allow a student at a school without a certain sport to play at the school of their choice within their county of residence. This would include home schooled and virtual school students as well as students in the many charter schools there that do not offer sports.

Tyler Gerald 6'5 315lbs OT from Portsmouth East, OH transferred to IMG for his SR year next season, he's already committed to Ohio State.

There has been a lot of talk about this is Hillsborough Co. This law would really benefit a couple of schools in Hillsborough Co. (Tampa).

Yes

Wasn't Tebow a home schooled kid?

Played for Nease H.S. in St. John's County (FL), but yes - was home-schooled.

Good luck, Coach Wright!

As strong a supporter of parental choice as I am I 100% do not agree that home schooled kids should be able to play sports at high schools.

If you choose to home school then you choose to eliminate the social aspects of education (and I would count team activities among them).

My best friend is a pharmacist, as is his wife, they home school their kids and his oldest daughter just got a 21 on the ACT in the 5th grade. She is excelling in school clearly, why shouldn't she be able to play sports and do social activities because she is schooled at home?
